What kind of envelopes do I use?

For my teacher recommendation letters, transcripts, whatever? Standard white envelopes or those big yellow envelopes?

y not just do what im doing? whatever u waive, put in a white envelope (rec, sec. repot, transcript) and then throw it all in a big yellow envelope with ur common app.

I'm doing the Common App online.

i used large envelopes for everything just because my mom told me she read somewhere and i doubt its true that even subconsciously the crease in the paper isnt pleasing to adcoms. (i disagree no one has any right to attack this!!!)
do whatever you think is easiest

My son used the yellow envelopes to give to the teachers for recs and the counselor at school used the white for all the school stuff that goes to colleges. It doesn't matter one bit! just make sure you have enough postage

As most admissions offices scan submitted materials so they can be electronically disseminated to the readers, I think trackdude, you can put your mom's fears at rest.

Really, envelopes don't matter.

Use 9x12 envelopes. Color doesn't matter. Some are white, but mostly you see the golden color. Postage is 97 cents for these envelopes because of their size, though.

I gave my teachers standard white envelopes for all my recs (except Columbia--they ask specifically not to fold), and I gave my counselor large manila envelopes to send transcripts/secondary school reports.
