What are the essays on the app or does someone have a link to the app?

1) We know you lead a busy life full of activities, many of which are required of you. Tell us about something you do simply for the pleasure of it. (100 words)

2) Although you may not yet know what you want to major in, which department or program at MIT appeals to you and why? (100)

3) Tell us about a time you used your creativity. This could be something you made, a project that you lead, an idea that you came up with, or pretty much anything else. (250)

4) Describe the world you come from; for example, your family, clubs, school, community, city, or town. How has that world shaped your dreams and aspirations? (250)

5) Tell us about the most significant challenge you’ve faced or something important that didn’t go according to plan. How did you manage the situation? (250)

And a few other essays depending on if you’re still in high school, if you’ve ever been convicted of any criminal offense, et cetera.

Thanks for that cgarcia. Is it the same questions every year? Because the 2009 essay questions were these exact ones.

I heard that the prompts weren’t changed before AY 2009. However started from this year, they changed the requirements (short essays instead of a long one), but the main ideas in the prompts are the same. I guess next year, they won’t be changed :)

Although the questions have been the same for the past several years (though the word length requirements have changed), there’s no guarantee that they’ll be the same next year or for the next few years. The admissions officers meet every summer to discuss and refine the application, and I know they had been thinking about changing the questions this year.

^ I guess the new prompts will certainly be more intriguing. Can’t wait to see them :)

University applications are so much fun!:)
