I am trilingual and speak english, polish, and spanish. I plan to major in international business/finance. I am considering studying japanese, chinese, arabic, russian and korean.I dont plan on taking a European language since I am pretty comfortable with Spanish, English, Polish (and other slavic languages).

What would you recommend I study?
What are Wesleyan strongest language programs?

I would recommend Chinese, because of the fact that a significant portion of the world population speaks that language and China's political/cultural/economic influence is bound to be felt in the 21st century. A few of my friends are taking Chinese, and it is amazing how fluently they speak now. Only two years ago, they didn't know a single word or character. The same with people that I know who take Russian and Japanese.

The less commonly taught languages like Arabic, Korean or Hindi might not be the best classes to take. It feels like those languages are "orphaned" here at Wes. You don't get anything beyond the intro levels, and the classes only meet MWF, instead of MTWRF + one weekly conversation hour and language lab time like a normal language intro class is supposed to. There aren't any other courses to take, not many staff/faculty members, and not too many resources to back you up if you want to learn more. It just feels like a total dead end path. IMO it's better to just buy the book and learn it yourself, instead of wasting a credit on what amounts to pretty much an independent study anyways.
