What major most closely corresponds to a student interested in managing restaurants and working with (tasting, surveying) food?? I am not that interested in the science of the food.

Also, I am a junior without a major who has not taken chem 3a/3b, physics 8a/8b, or bio 1a/1b. I would really appreciate if anyone can comment on a possible major i can completed in 3 semesters (+ 1 or 2 summer sessions if needed)
thanks :)

interesting question- im not sure either

man, somedays i think i should have just gone to uc davis and done thier food science- business management program, but my parents convinced me that berkeley was the obvious choice cuz of reputation and better jobs when u come out

i feel the same way sonic pwr. damn the reputation lol

integrative biology?

IB is too much science, i am not interested so much in the science aspect

and i heard that berkeley did have a food science program that was discontinued a few years ago, the problem is nurtrional sciences and toxicology (berkeley has no general nutrional sciences major, the toxicology aspect is what deteres me) at berkeley is too science intensive, i wish there was something more management, business, oriented such as the Food Science Management program at Davis

What's keeping you from majoring in business or economics while taking a lot of food-related electives?

i am a junior, too late to apply to haas, my econ gpa is only 2.9 ( i messed up sophmore year, thus i got rejected from econ)
however, i am know for certain i am not interested in econ classes, i didn't like econ 182, 100a, i just want something more food oriented, rit now the closest option might be Nutrional Sciences- Dietician

The closest option for you is NOT Nutri Sci- Dietetics. You haven't taken ochem, bio, or physics, let alone the upper division classes. Trying to finish all the prereqs for that major in 3 semesters is borderline impossible, not to mention completely suicidal with your academic record so far.

Go sit down with an academic adviser and figure this out.

tastybeef---- for dietetics I do NOT need any physics and I only need Bio 1A (not 1b)
the only other lower division requirments I would need is mcb 32, and chem 3a + chem b
Plus, I have taken UGBA 105 (A-) and currently taking 102a (expecting A) and both these count towards upperdivision units

i have spoken with an adviser in L&S department, he was useless, he pretty much said just do whatever you want and do well, i wish there was someone I could speak to who will outline possible scenarios for me

Even without those, you want to take Chem 3A/3AL, Chem 3B/3BL, Bio 1A/1AL, IB 132/132L or MCB 32/32L, MCB 102, NST 103 and other upper division NST classes in 3 semesters?

That's very difficult considering some of those courses build upon each other, like Bio 1A, Chem 3B, MCB 102, and NST 103. You'd have to take Chem 3A/3AL in one semester, Chem 3B/3BL and Biology 1A/1AL in the subsequent semester, and then MCB 102 and NST 103 in the following semester. That's already 3 semester and you still have to do the physiology requirement along with 10+ other NST upper divs. What's worse is that you can't spread out these upper divs since many of them require NST 103. Furthermore, NST course offerings are very specific since the major isn't that populous. Some classes are only offered in the fall or the spring, so this makes your scheduling even more tiresome.

You can't be seriously trying to fit in around 40 units of upper divs along with chem 3, bio 1a/1al, and the physio requirement into 3 semesters. That's beyond outrageous.

i understand but i got 2 summer sessions too, but yes i would be squeezing it, its just that i dont see any other possible major i can do
