What majors is brown known for

I was wondering what brown university was known for because I know Cornell is known for its engineering school, Pennsylvania is known for its business school, Yale for its medical and law school, and Harvard for its medical, law, and business school. So what is brown known for

Those are all graduate schools, which shouldn’t really figure into your college search. I would honestly say that Brown is known for its undergraduate education, which is more than you can say for the other schools you mentioned.

What undergraduate majors is brown known for

Known by whom? For example, many people don’t think of Brown when they think of computer science, yet among the people who count – hiring personnel at Facebook, Google, Microsoft, etc. – Brown students are quite well known.

Off the top of my head, strong departments include computer science, engineering, international relations, economics, Egyptology, literary arts, neuroscience, poli sci/public policy, applied math.

The schools of the caliber you mention have across the board excellence. There may be some especially standout depts but it isn’t like they have some crappy ones too. And like others have said, you are very confused about graduate school vs undergraduate school. Brown’s grad school is small relative to the other schools because that is the way they run things. Brown is particularly known as an undergraduate focused research institution.

And to add to the list above geosciences and probably a lot of humanities depts.

lol, yale is not known for their med school. They are highly and mainly known for the powerhouse law school. Penn and columbia beat out yale med. Brown is known for their undergraduate education and loose/liberal required class policies. Princeton, dartmouth, and brown are almost exclusively concentrated on undergrad.
