I am applying ED to a school for Nov 1 deadline. What should I get in order before I can submit? I want to make sure I have everything.
-
Common App
This includes all the CommonApp questions, School specific questions, Recommendations from counselor and teachers without which the Submit button won’t show.
-
SAT.
Is it enough to self-declare in the CommonApp form or do I need to go go collegeboard and send the SAT score to the school?
-
School Transcripts
I have entered my courses and grades in the CommonApp form. Is this enough for the deadline, or should I send them an “official” transcript? If so, then how do I send them an official transcript?
Am I missing anything else?
It really depends on the school you are applying to! But I can answer some questions you have:
- the submit button shows up when you are complete with everything and made your payment to apply to the school
- And after you self declare on commonapp, you have to go to college board to send in the scores you declare on commonapp, or whatever the school you are ED to wants
- your school counselor should send your official transcript. Really depends on your high school as well.

Does your school use Naviance or another software/cloud based portal to manage recommendations and transcripts? Naviance works with Common App to manage this part of the process. Your school counselor will tell you what you need to do for those steps. Make sure you let them know where you are applying (you would be surprised how often this step is forgotten.
The college will usually have a check list, too. If they are doing any virtual sessions this month you may want to listen in. They may give tips or insight.
