What math topics are you studying at school?

Boarding school applicants come from all around the world so I guess that every one has a very different math background. Many large boarding schools offer a wide variety of math courses for new students, ranging from very basic algebra to college-level courses. I'm just curious to know where are you CCers going to school (North America/International) and what math topics are being covered at your school?

I’m doing AP Calc AB (14//applying for 11th)

While I am ahead of most people in my grade, I don’t think it is anything extremely special. At boarding school one has options much greater than the traditional sequence.

Not in a boarding school, but I’m studying Linear Algebra / Differential Equations this year as a senior.

Calc BC, I’m a freshman applying for 10th grade

PrincipalV are you 14? If so then why are you in 10th grade. Sorry If this is off topic.

I skipped sixth grade. I don’t know why I put that, though studies have shown math is done more by age (in the same grade the older students generally do better).

I’m applying for 9th grade and I’m taking Algebra 1

i’m in the 8th grade now, and i’m taking geometry.

Wow? BC Calculus in the 9th grade? I feel so unintelligent right now. I’m also a freshman applying for sophomore year. I’m currently taking trigonometry. My school doesn’t offer any explicit calculus courses, however - it follows the IB curriculum. I hope that boarding schools take that into account!

Baaheathrow, you make me feel inteligent. I am only in geometry and I am a freshman applying as a sophomore (is that how you spell it?).

Trig comes after Geometry…

I’m applying for 9th grade and I’m taking Algebra 2 and Geometry.

Trigs usually not even a class on its own.

I’m not taking trigonometry as a specific class, it’s just the unit I’m currently learning in my math class. In my school, we only have one math class with three ability levels. We’re following the British math curriculum. Sorry about the confusion!

assign, Never knew you could take two math courses at the same time, are you in a private school now?

Edit: I meant stupid not intelligent

I’m applying for ninth and I’m taking Algebra I (honors) just like everyone else in my grade.

But do boarding schools even care about what math class you’re in? I see why they look for honors/ap classes but wouldn’t counting math placement be a bit biased because some kids are better at math than others?

@Faymom: I’m international. Where I live students have to take Algebra and Geometry simultaneously.
