What method do you use to study for the AP History exams?

What method do you use?

Just a straight read through of the review book? Do essays in review book? Take notes from a review book?

I'm about to start studying for AP World History... should I define all 735 (without the first geography chapter) concepts in the Barron's book? [hoping for a 5].

lol ive heard people say that looking up each term on wikipedia and reading the article is a good way to go...idk..i bought the review book last year for ap world and forgot to open it until the night before (i feel asleep 1/3 of the way through)...the test was actually a lot easier than everyone though...if you can write good essays you'll get a five, considering half of the mult choice seemed like common knowledge to me rather than world history (btw our teacher was terrible, we just sat there most of the year, no notes or teaching or lectures)

You HAVE a review book? We didn't - yuck! They discouraged us from buying them too, since nobody had to take the test to get credit. I would do a readthrough. I usually did reading notes when I did study...which was NOT often at all..lol.

ziggytheman: was it really that easy? i mean, right now, i still have like over eight chapters to go through in our textbook. and we've barely done any essays?

any suggestions on how to study, given these circumstances, anyone?

the people on this forum have a somewhat strange notion of "easy." it seems like on every thread someone is saying how they didn't study at all for an AP and got a five.

for those of us who do have to study :) i recommend notecards. I made a couple hundred for US history. they were really nice to carry around on the bus, at school, etc. to study from. plus, the act of making note cards itself, although very time consuming, helped me nail a lot of the concepts (i don't know about you, but for me writing things down helps me remember them).

good luck!

typing all the stuff into two columns (with the concept in one column and the explanation in the other column) is equivalent to notecards right? If i cover one column at a time. (i hate notecards) :)

AP World is pretty easy. I did it last year solely using Barrons and PR. I read through Barrons once without any note-taking and took their practice tests. Read PR twice, took their practice tests, and landed a 5 on the AP exam and 800 for World History.

My advice to you is not to cram too much in in one night and make sure you don't forget what you studied the days before (review, review, review!) and you'll be fine.
