Motivation is a big factor in everyday success. It drives us to do hard and boring activities. What drives you to succeed?

the feeling that i have grown up, not by aging but by experiencing.
i have wanted to be an adult for like forever, and because i'm not legally one, i would like to feel like a total grown-up by doing something beneficial for the society. that's why i tried community service in the first place. and i love it!

my dreams. the ones i love the most. & jealousy ..lol

The hope that I can get the hell out of here and onto my dreams. Hahaha. Seriously. masterpeace has it right!

Usually myself, or people who believe in me. Or some kind of a goal that I'm working toward. Examples: I motivate myself in that I can't let myself settle for mediocrity (most of the time). It's just not something I can do; if I'm going to do something, I want to do a good job on it -- make it worth my time and effort, you know? And usually that ends up meaning that I strive for the best. But it's not because I want to beat others, it's because I want to do the best I can. That sounded really cheesy. But it's true.

More examples: other people motivate me in that people are counting on me, I feel like I can't let them down; I don't want to let them down. And when people believe in me, I want to show them that they were right to believe in me and not disappoint them. And I'm motivated by goals, too. Like.. when I wanted to make Varsity for field hockey, it's not like I was going to slack off and do nothing, because then I obviously wouldn't have made it; instead, I just tried to do all I could on the field. When you want something bad, you work for it. That's motivation.

Just out of curiosity, lebronfor2008mvp, what prompted you to post this question? It was almost like an SAT writing prompt.. ugh

i hate SAT writing prompts, but i'll answer this anyway...

just... myself. i don't know, i've never really thought of not trying hard as an option.

For one thing, I'll tell you what DOESN'T motivate me: My peers, or a majority of my teachers. I'd say out of six teachers, there are only two that really motivate me and make me want to really love school. The rest I just feel like I have to be a conformist and stick to exactly what they want to succeed. I hate that idea, that you can't be yourself and still do good.

Why would I do anything less than the best I could possibly do?

To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is the only thing that makes me actually do my homework.

Not wanting to end up like everyone else in my state.

Farming. Uhg. Never.

lol, life in general....

I guilt myself into doing my homework.
That's about it.

My English teacher makes people that don't do their homework stand in the corner.

money.

Just kidding. It just sort of happens. I get really pumped about things sometimes, including schoolwork. It's a good feeling.

This leaves him open to some very cynical statements, but I think I'll pass on the opportunity.

This is a not-insignificant factor for me, as well.

I make myself believe that I will get a hot chick in college if I do my homework and go to a good college, Harvard, etc. Thats is what motivates me...

Lol. Flawed logic is flawed. D:

My dreams and the desire to make a difference before I leave this earth. I have such short time that I need to work fast, I guess that's what drives me so much.
