what new gadget will you get before college?

Personally, I'm going to buy a macbook pro, probably a 15 or 17 inch screen. i'm really hoping they release upgraded laptops sometime during summer though.

i'm also hoping to get a new phone, preferably a smartphone. I'm thinking about either the G2 (Google's second phone, don't know when that'll come out) or an iphone. I mainly want one to surf the web, chat with friends, and keep organized through college.

What about you guys?

Well, since I’m opting for one of my cheaper schools, a very fancy shmancy laptop for sure :). Other than that, I’m all set.

I will get a laptop for graduation. Hopefully a fully-featured 15" Dell. I’m pretty sure my limit is $1200, and I’m going to come as close to it as possible when I’m picking it out.

I’ll be getting a lovely MacBook. I’m not sure whether I’m paying for it or my parents are, but either way…
Hopefully I can catch the free I-pod/printer deal too.

Oh, and parents said something about making sure I have a good stereo system before I go to college. Not sure - that might get sidelined since I picked a school that’s a financial stretch anyway and then am getting the laptop on top of that.

I would definitely recommend a digital camera as a cool college gadget.

^I second that. I’m always glad I brought a camera when we go places off-campus, or when we do crazy stuff on-campus :)

I don’t have a laptop yet so I’m hoping to score one of those.

I’d say you’re chances are pretty good, since MAcBook Pros only come in 15 or 17 inch screens.
Personally…maybe a better laptop? maybe a shinier laptop? maybe…I dunno something awesome

I want to get a touch. Seems like so much stuff you could do…

I’ll be springing for a Macbook. Don’t need a pro, as I don’t do anything too computer-intensive.

Just recently bought an iPhone, so I’m good in that area. (Perhaps Apple will be giving free iPods with computer purchases again this summer)

I’ll end up getting a new laptop. I’m not sure if I’d like to go with Windows or Mac. All new laptops come with Windows Vista and my current laptop is total crap because of it. I’m not too fond of Mac with the whole non-right click, but it’s nice that it holds a charge for days.

Maybe I’ll get a Mac since it will be strictly school-related.

When was the last time you used Mac OS?

Actually our school just got OS Leopard Macs this year and still, no right mouse button. They finally added a scroll wheel but you have to hold down the only button to access the menus normally found with a right mouse button.

I’ll be moving to the US from the other sd eof the world, so:
Phone
Macbook
Electric keyboard (if only my piano could fit into my dorm room :frowning: i would totally bring it, haha)

Right click = control+click on Macs. :)

There’s also holding down “control” and clicking. And with the multi-touch trackpad, a two-fingered click registers as a right click.

Not sure if a standard 2-buttoned mouse works. I’d imagine it would.

Uh… you guys realize that you can use any standard two button mouse on a mac, right? You are rehashing critiques from the 90s.

I’m going to get a macbook pro 15", possibly an ipod if they’re offering that deal on the apple store again.

I just got new new laptop yesterday.3 gb RAM, 250 gb HD, Beautiful 17’’ screen, all for only $400. I think it’s a pretty great value (as long as you like PCs). It’s a Toshiba Satellite L350, in case anyone cares.

A new Blackberry for sure. Keeps me organized and connected 24/7
