What percentage of applicants do interviews?

I would say I am an average WF applicant (3.75 UW, 1370/2070 SAT, decent ECs). I am not going to do an interview. I have not done an interview, and there is no way my first interview is going to be a written interview. Do a majority of kids do interviews?

Don't know what the percentage is, but since changing to SAT optional, Wake is really encouraging students to interview. It's a chance for the folks in Admissions to get to know applicants better. I take it at this point the only "interview" option left is the written one?

I would guess that still not a lot of people did an interview, since I read that the majority of students who applied to Wake Forest sent SAT scores (so, like you bosox, they think their scores are good enough to get them in without an interview).

I think most people will continue to send their scores in.

I did both, because it was convenient. But I don't know anyone else personally that applied.

My son sent SAT & ACT scores and just came back last week from an interview. (We are in CT). For him the whole experience was very helpful as the other schools that he applied to do not do interviews. I would imagine that a fair number of applicants in the South and Northeast do interview in person at some point during the process, but sometimes kids live too far away to pop in for a visit. I think that the interview will help qualified candidates as it demonstrates a certain level of interest. Having said that I don't think that if you are qualified that the fact you didn't do an interview will hurt you. If you were unable to go in person, I would recommend doing the written interview option. This way there is something in your file that says you completed an interview. I would think that ignoring the many emails asking you to do the written interview can't help your cause. There is really no downside to doing it if that is your only option. Just my opinion. Whatever you do, you seem like a solid candidate so best of luck to you.

IF YOU WANT TO GO TO WAKE, then do the interview simple as that. They don't really care about your SAT/ACT score anymore, they put little weight on it. The interview replaces it, trust me if you want to attend wake , ie accepted do the interview they will reject people who don't do it.

They still care about SAT/ACT, because that has to do with rankings. But if you don't send them in, it's just one less thing that can be positive for you.
