What percentage of junior college students transfer to a four year university?

What percentage of junior college students transfer to a four year university?
Been looking for the answer to this question, and also...

What percentage of students who transfer from a junior college successfully get a four year degree? Then percentage who continue graduate level work.

I am looking for answers backed with reliable sources. I am continuing my search online. Thanks for any help you can give me.

google would be faster.

I didn’t say explicitly that I have searched on google, but I did imply that I had searched and continued to search after I posted this. The place I had “been looking for the answer to this question” was on google, and “I am continuing my search” referred to google and a few other places.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to dig up a figure which is why I posted the question here.

Thanks for your tip though. If anyone has any other information or tips for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

no one can give you a reliable number. that’s what i’m saying.

each jc sends a different percentage of kids to four years.

for the UCs, the president sent out an email saying that some students do better than people who were admitted as freshman. in terms of graduate school, that’s an individual thing.

no one is going to be able to give you a number better than the searches you look for yourself because the cases you’re giving us are so broad.

either you don’t know how to search or you’re just waiting for someone to give you bs answers to a question that can’t be reliably answered as there are too many factors involved.

also, are you looking for UC specific, or CC in general? Because if you’re looking for in general, this is the wrong forum.

I must of accidentally clicked on UC Transfer before posting. I meant to just post this in Transfer Students. If an admin could move it to its proper location, or delete this one and I will repost, that would be great.

However, I am sure there is a general statistic for some study that has been done. Of course, I am not look for a this is the exact answer, but something saying 30% (sample stat) of the students at community colleges go to a four year universities.

When searching on google, I usually come across acceptance rates which is not what I am looking for.

On another note, no one is forcing you to reply to this thread. I am confident that I have done enough searching to warrant creating a thread on the question. If you do not feel my question is legitimate, then feel free to ignore it. You do not need to post demeaning responses.

i think more than 50 percent of students don’t transfer.
the problem with the statistics is that they don’t give the whole picture.
there are many students at cc who don’t ever intend to transfer. some of them already have bachelors degrees or more, and are just taking for example a “language class” or an “accounting class” to improve their skills.
community colleges serve their purpose for different people, primarily becuase of the cheap tuition.
when i was at a cc, the cc specifically asked you what was your “goal” or intention of being at cc.
many of those who enroll at cc after high school do so because they think that’s the next step after high school(not necessaril ybecause they have goals or intend to transfer).

Yeah, I know that it doesn’t tell the whole story. I wouldn’t go around misusing statistics. =) I just wondered what the stat was. Apparently, “someone” had done a study as I hypothesized in a previous post. The US Department of Education. I finally found my answer in an article from a journal, “Diverse Issues in Higher Education”. According to the article, the US Department of Education reports that 26% of community college student transfer to a four year university. About what I figured.

Anyways, glad that’s over. Last time I ask a question on a forum.

Thanks liek0806 for being constructive, but every forum seems to have these Fenris guys who think they know everything, e.g., “no one can give you a reliable number. that’s what i’m saying.” I figure a study done by the Department of Education is at least somewhat reliable.

I heard something like 1 in 9 students at a community college graduate from a four year university.

^
that sounds about right actually if you look at statfinder for a random C.C at most there 10% transfer ready students and if you count the number of csu/uc transfer i would say around 1 in 9 is about right

For my cc the number was like a 18 percent transfer rate. It’s very low. CC graduation rates are not much higher.

I find this question very useless. If you want to transfer and graduate, just work hard and do it.
