What salary would you be happy with?

IhateCA: i will look forward to seeing you at the gentlemen's club in Greenwich. If you have ever watched Ocean's Twelve, the house that was owned by the French thief in Versailles, will be the type of house that I will own. Also, I like small old vintage sport cars. Also, its hedge fund heaven, you business can be inside your house and still be respected because of the address.

runningcircles1, you pay your income taxes to the good ol' IRS of the United States of America (federal government, no state involved).

everythings possible. You can make that much if you believe you can.

am i the only one who just wants to be able to pay the mortgage if i'm doing what i love?

You don't have state income taxes? We do...

Why are you guys living in US? I mean I'm totally going to live in India but then I'm going to travel all around the world. Ah waiting for those good days!

I'm going to travel all around the world. My goal is to own a huge postmodernist style house (I hate traditional homes-they're just too blase and too boring) by 30 and a Gulfstream Jet by 35, so I can call up my aircraft management company and be like "Hey it's me. I want my plane ready to go to Paris in 45 minutes." and take my chauffeured Maybach to JFK and take off. And I want to be able to rent a helicopter for my kids when they go to Prom...(I'm going to be such a bad father...I'm going to spoil these kids rotten)

Pre-medwannabe: I'm not a big fan of old cars. Old expensive cars are nice, but most of all I need a car to work. But that's ok because I'm going to have my brand-new car fitted with a hybrid engine...actually screw hybrid, I'm going hydrogen!!! (You can see I'm obviously a tree-hugger.)

$250,000/yr would be excellent, but about $125,00 would be okay before age 30 or so.

I doubt I will ever work for less than six figures.

You are going to JHU. That is a good assumption unless you are majoring in something like English or Psychology. (I seriously cannot understand why people do this when they won't become teachers, journalists, formal psychologists or speechwriters.)

at least 200k because my parents make that much and I have sworn that I will do something more with my life than the traditional doctor/scientist route =P

Yeah, I know that's tough in the liberal arts/political science arenas, but oh well, I can dream...

There are a lot of things you can do with a degree in english. There are a lot of Gov. jobs, you could pursue a career in publishing, and professional and technical writing is in pretty high demand. I'm going to major in english and I plan to go on to law school.

To anwser the question:
Money isn't really that important to me, I'd be fine making like 30k a year.

i just wanna be a millionaire
help my parents, donate to charities, etc

chickenboi8008 will simply work somewhere such as McDonalds

thats good

you bein a wise guy?

i want to push my ıncome as far as it will go.

I meant those only majoring in English for undergrad and leaving with only that sole piece of paper and never coming back: a bachelor's in English is the only thing they have as a degree. You have a viable option afterwards, so there is the integration and hence the job value.
baykin, you must be good at ass-kissing and hard work for that to happen.
chickenboi8008 is quite altruistic; I would never do any of that until I spent all the money I wanted to spend.

"and I would rather live in new canaan/darien/wilton than greenwich, they have better high school lacrosse haha"

not true, greenwich is 12th in the nation for lacrosse ahead of all the others. but i know what you mean greenwich sucks the people are all ****s...me and my friends were on greenwhich ave one night wearing our boathouse kaclets for our town and someone drove by and screamed "GO BACK TO YOUR OWN *ING TOWN" it was really funny actually everyone started cracking up
