I am a junior currently and im pretty sure I want to major in Comp Sci but what SAT subject tests would you reccomend. I am definitely taking Math II but what else? Is there a specific test that would show my skills in the area better or should I just take an English one. I already took Bio last year (760) so do I even need to take another one. Most colleges that like to see subject tests only ask for two anyway. Thanks
Most colleges will accept Bio for the second subject test for computer science. The only one I’m aware of that puts a restriction on it is Carnegie Mellon. They don’t accept Bio (E) but do accept Bio (M). So, unless you want to apply to SCS at CMU and took Bio (E), I would not take another subject test, but instead focus on other areas of your application. There’s a lot of bio applications with computer science.
Chemistry is good.
Chem or Physics.
Ideal combination for CS is math 2 and a science (Chemistry, Physics, or Biology), because that will meet the subject test requirements of every college that requires or recommends subject tests for any CS program, except as noted above that CMU wants Bio (M) rather than (E) if you use Bio as the science.
If you actually want to consider a third test beyond those, then a language or Eng lit exam might be considered but not because you need it for admission. There are some colleges that will give college credit for high scores in those tests after you are admitted (such as Georgia Tech) or use them for placement after you are admitted.
