As a nursing major, what SAT II’s should I look into taking? As of now, none of my schools require SAT II but I think I will still take it especially if I can manage a good score.
For nursing, I would recommend that you take the Math II and Chemistry subject tests imo.
I probably should have stated this earlier but I am in a good situation regarding SAT II math but not science. My school is very competitive and hard. As a result, I took regular bio in 9th grade (honors bio is known as one of the hardest classes in my school and fyi I did try honors bio but was doing poorly so I switched out). I took honors chem in 10th grade finishing with an A- both semesters. I did not take AP Chem because knowing my school and me, did not feel as if it was a good idea. @davidyekwonkim
Definitely Math II. History as well? The US History is a hard test! (my kid scored a 5 on the AP but only a 760 on the US history subject test, which she took the next day so was uber-prepared). These are going to be supplemental to your application so a science might not be strictly necessary. Your science grades are probably going to weigh the most heavily so keep up the good work there.
@JBStillFlying Thanks for the advice. I’m in AP US History now so I’ll consider it. I think I’ll try to prep for chem but I don’t think it will work out
Regardless of which subject test be sure to get the College Board prep books. My D had one for History, one for Math, and maybe even a general one explaining the tests and scoring system (you do lose a fraction of a point for wrong answers and the exact fraction depends on the number of multiple choice answers for each question. Can’t recall much beyond that!). A quick google will lead you to the appropriate materials.
Good luck!
You’re sure you don’t want to try a science test? It makes the most sense for a major in nursing.
Look at post 2 on this thread @SMMom1 I don’t think I’ll be prepared
