What the heck is the N-Spire going to do that an 84 can’t?

What are the best book for Physics, Biology E, and Math I?

I think barron’s explaining theorem its hard to understand

Sent from my GT-I9100 using CC

PR Physics book offers practice tests which differ from the real test a lot. also the explanations seem to be vague at some point. You should get Barrons as your main book and maybe loan a PR just for help, cause there are some vague spots in Barrons either.

Btw, I got 710 in Barron’s 1st practice tests. so do I have any chance to get around 750 on a real test?

curious5

yes, they offer real tests but there is no theory or the promised review by the TEST MAKERS

Hello I am taking SAT subject test math level-2 and physics this Saturday. I wonder are questions ordered like easiest to hardest? And do all test takers have differently ordered questions?

I am taking the same tests this saturday too.

yes the order is easiest to hardest.
and no order of questions is the same for everyone.

Where do you live?

I am a little disturbed by the wording “If Not Aiming for 800.” What else would one aim for? As far as we know, the books under that section could be god-awful and only useful for setting up otherwise-qualified students to score in the 500s. I realize that this is a stretch, but I think it’s important to try to quantify about how far each guide is behind 800-level.

@konspace i live in the middle east

I’ve registered for the Math 2 and Physics subject test on Dec 1.
I think I know everything necessary (a did the Physics, Math1, Math 2 tests on collegeboard without any mistake at the first time) but I would like to do more tests. Books aren’t good for me because of the delivery time. Can you recommend me some online/downloadable practices, ebooks?

would it be a good idea to take more than one subject test in a day or one at a time?

HOW IS PR MATH 2?
i need caps cause so far this q has been asked multiple times but has not been answered. thx

Here’s my personal experience with Physics and Math 2’s books.

Physics.
Barron’s SAT Subject Test in Physics (6/10): It covers most subjects, but was a bit confusing at times; many pages were basically blocks of awkwardly worded text. It has a fair amount of unneeded materials, and strangely enough, insufficient explanations for some needed ones. Some questions were ok, while others were again, awkward.
Having said that, it’s not an unusable book. You can definitely learn a lot from it.

Princeton Review’s Cracking the SAT Physics Subject Test (9/10): Excellent book. Covers even more subjects than the Barron’s, very clear explanations, and useful questions. I do have one small complaint: The chapters’ order felt a little out of place. But again, nothing major.

End result: 800.
Personal recommendation: Get PR’s book. Depending on your pace, give it some time (It took me 4 days to study the material, solve the practice tests/questions, and review). Learn the concepts well, and you’ll be good.

Math level 2.
Barron’s SAT Subject Test Math Level 2 (9.5/10): Best Math 2 level book. It might over prep you, but it’s very effective. Like OP said, if you’re aiming for an 800, you have to get this book. The only reason this isn’t a 10 is for the occasional poor answers explanations.

Cracking the SAT Math Subject tests (8/10): Again, another excellent book. Clear explanations (too clear at times), and slightly harder tests than the real thing. You can definitely guarantee 700+ score, but I can’t confidently say that it’s a good “perfect score” prep book.

End result: 800.
Personal recommendation: Get both books. Start with PR’s book, and then take on the Barron’s prep tests. If you’re scoring in the high 600s and above in Barron’s practice tests, you’re more likely to get a high 700s/800 score than not.

P.S. Thank you for the excellent thread. After reading this thread, I didn’t hesitate before getting the Barron’s Math 2.

thanks for that review man, greatly appreciated.

ur amazing…

How about Biology book? barron’s pr PR?

there are over 10 replies but the OP has not done anything

I feel Barron’s is the best for Maths 2. Having said that, contrary to popular belief, despite getting 720-740 on the Barron’s tests, I still didn’t manage getting 800
I will definitely be trying again. fingers crossed
Moving on to Physics, I have both Barron’s and PR. I have given the physics SAT twice. The first time I only had PR and got 780 on the first test and 720 on the second. I found the October 2012 waay tougher than that. I ended up getting 680! (Yes, I know it is horrible.) But I have to mention that I was not performing to my full potential on the test date since I was suffering from the flu and had fever till the previous night.
For my second SAT, I did PR again. I had a lack of tests on my hand (Sparknotes is down for maintenance) and bought Barron’s at the last minute. I attempted two practise tests from Barron’s and found them much harder than PR. (first test -780. Second- 750)
I feel the tests are something between PR and Barron’s. I would suggest studying PR properly but go through Barron’s too for two reasons. One, it has more tests than PR. PR has only two! Two, some material is not covered in PR. In fact, the first 4 questions of the Jan SAT were not covered in PR.
The October SAT was tougher than PR but Jan SAT was around the same as PR.
I can’t really say much about the material of Barron’s since I studied oly a few chapters from Barron’s since I got it the week before SAT! I bought it mainly for the tests.
I cannot really comment on chem since I have not studied well for chem to be honest.
I will update you guys on my score tomorrow. I hope it goes well!

Hi, maybe you can add in your great guide, this link about Ti-Nspire and calcualtors for SAT very helpful :

what do you think about using the Kaplan for Chemistry and Math 2? Should I use??
