Do you guys think that just doing practice tests alone will help?

BARRONS 2400 ALL THE WAY. the workbook is extremely useful.

PR’s 11 , 2010 edition is only a dollar on Amazon. The most recent one, 2013, is $10.

I’m pretty sure they have the same things, but I’m still afraid… does the edition really matter?

I’d guess that the edition probably doesn’t matter. Some reviews may detail differences, which are probably largely formatting, maybe minor error fixes. If I were you I’d get the $1 edition and then another cheap one.

What do you guys think of PWN the SAT for math?

Hey what do you guys think of Cliffs New SAT and Nova SAT prep course? I haven’t bought these two since I can’t find sufficient and trustworthy reviews on amazon.com or on any other websites. Any thoughts?

Lets bring this thread back alive. So my suggestions to really master each section are.

Writing: Reasonprep’s Sat Grammar Bootcamp. These 30 videos go way in depth and you will go into every writing section knowing WHY the correct answer is the correct answer. If you know what i mean.

Critical Reading: Rocket Review. I just got this link and took notes on its strategies and let me just say its helped a great ton.
[The SAT Reading Comprehension: Basic Principles - FamilyEducation.com](<a href=“SAT Critical Reading Tips”>SAT Critical Reading Tips)

Math: Dr.Chungs. Great practice and great tips. Cant go wrong.

Does anyone have a review on the Barron’s 25th edition SAT study book?

What book are the most recommended in order to get atleast a 2000

Looking to get atleast a

720 in math
650 in writing
630 in reading

As of now i have

650 in math
550 in reading
450 in writing

I already have the blue book… What prep book do you people recommended and if you can state why you like them…I’m willing to buy a book for each section so if its better to buy individual books please say so. Im also willing to buy 2 book for a given section. Thanks in advance

PS: im trying to buy the books as soon as possible to start studying.

Well I don’t have a problem with CR or writing, so I only bought the collegeboard book and Dr. Chung’s SAT math.

College board:
I only bought collegeboard because it had 10 tests and it was from the test makers. It just gives you a lot of practice, but if you’re scoring low, don’t rely on this book to thoroughly go through every problem for you.

Dr. Chung’s SAT Math:
Dr. Chung’s is absolutely amazing!!! It has 50 really short tips that show you how to do a problem as easily as possible and then gives you 3-4 practice problems with answers on each tip (sometimes up to 11, depending on the tip). After that, the book has 20 complete math tests which is great because it’s more than enough practice tests to last you the summer. The answers all have explanations on the back if you need it. There are some grammar/punctuation/spelling grammars, but since it’s a math book, I doubt that’s a big problem. Let me say though that if you’re scoring below 600s on the math section or you’re getting below a B or an A in math class at school, this book is probably not for you.

I took pre calc and got an a+ as a final grade and throughout highschool i always gots a+ in my math class

Do you think it’d be good to get Dr Chungs SAT Math and Barron’s SAT 26th edition to help with the math or should i get somethign besides Barron’s. Im definately getting Dr Chung’s.

Is there anybody else who can help me and tell me what books are best for writing and critical reading?

Lastly if i do get barrons which one should i get barrons 2400 or barrons SAT 26th edition? Thanks in advance and i appreciate the help.

Is the Grubers complete SAT guide a good source for Grammar? i know its good for math

I borrowed both kapplan 2400 and barrons 2400 from the library should I read those books or would I be better off reading the blue books strategy guide last practice test i got a 1830 and i want >2200. Thanks for any advice

I really need to improve my CR and Math.

CR: 530-560
Math: 560-620

I need CR in the 600s and Math in the high 600s.

Weakness for CR: Vocab…My vocabulary is horrendous
Weakness for Math: Haven’t taken Alg 2 yet, only Geometry. Taking Alg2 this school year though.

Is Gruber’s math good to improve my score to the high 600s? Does Grubers math help you answer the last questions that are extremely diffcult?

What books do you recommend for my Math and Low Cr? I dont need something too challenging but not extremely easy as well. THANKS

There are so many threads and so many discussions on this (old and new) that I’m simply confused on which books to get.

What are the best ones (in your opinion) that are currently still in circulation for each of the three sections?

I’ve got barrons and I’m pretty pleased with it.

check out “secrets to conquering the SAT”. I used a few different guides actually, but you start to realize they are all kind of the same. It’s like they are all written so someone who has never taken the SAT could study for it. Wasted a lot of time studying stuff I already knew. It only took about a week to go through secrets to conquering book and I actually got something out of it b/c it is for people who already took the PSAT or are taking the SAT a 2nd time.
I plan on getting “Directs Hits Vocab”, “Barron’s SAT 26th Edition” and “Gruber’s” Math.

Are these all good?

I have the Barron’s SAT 26th Edition and the Barron’s Math Work Book. I have yet to start any of them aside from reading the intro of the 26th Edition. It seems like a solid book.

I actually have a little experience with both Barron’s and Gruber’s and they are both pretty good books. Barrons was good, but I honestly think the questions were a little easier than what’s on the real SAT, so don’t go just by the questions in the book. Grubers is seemed like it was a little better when I flipped through it (didn’t use it as much, more just for extra practice), but it seemed like the questions jumped from being too easy to too hard. They both have a typical reivew of subjects, but looking back, I guess i’d rather have questions more difficult than what’s on the test so the real SAT is easier by comparison. I took it a 2nd time and did way better though. It’s different for everyone, but for me, I hate standardized tests so I almost planned on taking it a 2nd time. I actually kind of enjoyed studying for the 2nd try b/c I had a benchmark and knew what I needed to study, rather than just trying to study everything equally which takes A LOT more time.
