***What schools do you guys think would accept me if I did ED there?***

If you get a little more specific with size of school, social life, etc… I could help you more

I think you’d get in at UVA and you’d fit in with all your community service at William and Mary. They both say they take a holistic approach to admissions too. You can probably do better than both of those though!

Size of school: I don’t care, small large medium it doesn’t matter

Social life: It isn’t very high on my last, possibly low. Although I still want to have fun lol

What else should I tell you guys? It is just based on my stats

Bump

[College MatchMaker - Type of School](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

haha lol, NYU came up as a match. So did Bentley and Babson. So basicallly, it doesn’t answer my question though. I don’t know which collleges I would have a good shot at if I did ED!? That link helped for RD though so thanks!

Once again, I think you’re underestimating your very impressive stats…you’d probably have a good shot at…
*NYU
*Brown
*Maybe Columbia
*LACs like Amherst, Williams, etc.

I probably am. I am scared as hell. :frowning:

I don’t know why, but seeing everyone else who was rejected at my school stinks. U chicago raped our school lol.

This is my last “bump” What other schools will accept me ED and RD?

What about Middlebury! Someone PLEASE!

Try Penn. They have a really high admit rate for ED, and look more at strength of transcript rather than GPA. You are underestimating yourself terribly, and you could probably get into an Ivy.

Yeah, thank you for your support. Wish me luck guys!

You do understand that ED is entirely binding? No more applications after it and you are obligated to attend.

Otherwise I would say target LACS because they have a harder time attracting males. So read up on Middlebury, Bowdoin, Tufts, Vassar, Colgate, Amherst, Williams, etc and find a favorite. We can suggest all we want but you have the best idea of what you want besides an ED decision.

I do know obviously. I just wanted to know that I was not out of the question for certain schools. I am leaning towards NYU ED, and if I’m a reject, then ED2 Midd. Thanks.

You will definitely get in dude … :D

You know, I 'get" that you are nervous and so you want to apply ED to a school in order to assure you are admitted and to assure that you don’t have to be stressed out all year long about this. But…I don’t really think that an ED situation is a good fit for someone who is simply looking for a good “ED” acceptance and does not really have a passion for any particular school. It is a binding contract, and it severly limits your options; it is a contract that seriously favors the school.

There are, however, EA schools, and that might be worth looking into for you, also solid and strong schools which have rolling admissions. You could, potentially, get a good acceptance early, which would alleviate the pressure you are trying to avoid feeling during the year (good way to manage stress IMHO), but also allow you the freedom to look at other options in the future as acceptances are released over time.

NYU is really heavily school-favored in this contract and I wouldn’t apply ED and set yourself up like that. I actually question the ethics of heavy loan schools offering ED.

You’re a strong student, obvioulsy have the ability to think things thru, but you are scared. Do not make any application decisions based on fear. Actually, just don’t make any decisions in life based on fear. In those circumstances you will always be giving up your own power and your ability to make a truly informed and educated choice about what is best for you.

So, apply to EA schools, not ED, add rolling admissions, to relieve the stress, and allow yourself the full range of other applications in order to see what kind of merit offers and whatnot you will get next year. That’s my opinion. Worth every penny you paid for it. But, I really do see kids on this site giving the institutions WAY too much power. They need good students. Don’t forget to interview THEM when they are busy interviewing you.

I honestly think you can get NYU RD. Also might want to try Brown/Penn ED. The most important thing I can say is this: don’t count yourself out at any school before you apply. Give yourself a chance and apply to some elite reach schools, the worst that will happen is that you’ll waste 50$ and get a no, whereas if you don’t apply you’ll always ask yourself “What if?”

-Also apply to JHU, thats where im going :)

Yeah, haha thanks for the advice guys. I am setting up my list of schools that I will apply to EA and RD including rolling admissions. Yeah I agree with you guys that I have been scared of getting accepted to a college early so I don’t have to worry the rest of my senior year. I am looking at UofC EA with maybe MIT Sloan EA too along with another very large list.
