^^Aw you rock!

I’d probably turn it down for Stanford, Yale or Princeton, in that order.

Morehead-Cain scholarship at UNC!!!

Would totally pick Brown over Harvard. Haha didn’t even apply to Harvard, so here’s to hoping for Brown on Thursday…

Stanford, Notre Dame, Washington University in St. Louis, and UPenn, but not necessarily in that order
maybe Tufts
I just don’t love the Harvard environment. The prestige and fantastic education of course are hard to give up, but only to a point.

columbia just cus its in NYC and that means great job opportunities, a great college experience, and a still fearsome resume featuring the #4 school instead of #1

I’d never even thought I would have the chance to make this decision, but I chose Stanford over Harvard this year!

Turned down Princeton and full Merit scholarship at Michigan for Harvard. I have not regretted it one single day that I have been here. Most of my TFs and professors have been accessible and outstanding. The few classes that haven’t been great are more than out weighed by my interesting, fun and incredible classmates.

I wish you all the best of luck no matter where you end up!

Many years ago, my friend turned down Harvard for UChicago with merit money. Although she is a successful doctor at a top academic center, she always wonders what it would have been like if she had attended Harvard. I think she slightly regrets her decision.

Only MIT, probably.

Yale, Stanford

“I find they tend to encourage their kids to look more at Yale/Princeton/Stanford or go the Williams/Amherst/Swarthmore route for undergraduate experience based on their own experience at these institutions.”

We have found the same thing. Among the many Ivy professors we know, quite a large percentage encourage Pomona, Amherst, Williams, Swarthmore for their own children.

My DS opted for Pomona as his first choice – and he did consider Harvard.

Interesting piece by Larry Summers (no one’s favorite administrator) in the NY Times on how difficult it is to improve undergraduate education at an institution such as Harvard. Here’s the link: <a href=“What You (Really) Need to Know - The New York Times”>What You (Really) Need to Know - The New York Times;

I just turned down Harvard for Princeton! Replied “yes” on the Pton admitted students wensite.

Glad this was not a theoretical question :)

Princeton! Brown and Northwestern, as well.

STANFORD AWWWWW YYEEEAAAAAHHHHHH but seriously. for all us CS/EE kids, how could harvard compare }:)

As a student on the wait list, I’d just like to say that this thread is greatly appreciated right now.

Did anyone say Cornell? ):

The United States Air Force Academy, the United States Naval Academy

I picked Stanford over Harvard 3 years ago and I have never looked back.

Possibly MIT, Columbia and Wharton slightly less likely
