What should a boy wear to Juilliard audition?

The website is not very helpful, it says wear "comfortable clothing that permits freedom of movement," but does that include jeans? I know Juilliard is an extremely selective school, and I would hate to start off with a black eye just because I did not wear what they might deem as appropriate clothing.
Also, I was was thinking of wearing something a bit nicer, like a button down shirt with jeans, to possibly stick out, but is that even a good way to stand out? I figure I would look different than everyone else in a plain t-shirt, but that might not be a good thing...
My audition is tomorrow morning at 9 am so I am slightly freaking out here! x_x

A part of your Juilliard audition will involve movement – that might mean seeing how fast you can pick up a dance step, repeating multiple dance steps diagonally across a floor, or doing an improv that contains movement. If your jeans are tight, it might restrict your “freedom of movement”. Some kids will show up to the auditions in sweat pants and a tee shirt, and stand out because they can move more freely than others in restrictive clothing. My suggestion is to forget the idea of appropriate, but rather wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable that also allows you freedom of movement.

I had my Juilliard audition last week, so I might be able to help with this. I wore new blue jeans and a nice polo shirt. While there were a couple of people all dressed up in button-down shirts and ties and dress pants, the majority of guys were in “casual” clothing, similar to mine. Just wear what’s comfortable to you, whether that’s a suit or jeans and a t-shirt.

There wasn’t much movement during the group warm-up, (there were so many people there wasn’t enough space to move, really), so there’s no need to wear something you can dance in. However, I didn’t get a callback, so I don’t know what might happen during the callbacks…

Alright, I’ll take the different advice into account and just wear some looser jeans and a t-shirt. Thanks for the advice everyone! (=

To be honest – it doesn’t matter. Its about the work (meaning monologues) not what he is wearing.
