What should deferred students do?

Hello, I was an ED 1 applicant to Bates, but sadly got deferred. So now, what do I need to do to strengthen my application further? any extra documents?? anything??
all kinds of suggestions are welcome!!

Were you deferred to the RD pool?
I'm told no int'ls were accepted ED1 due to some budgeting issues still being undecided and that all int'l applications ended up in the RD pool.

If you submitted all requested documents in your original app you should not have to send any additional documents save updated grade transcripts.

Joshi, what were your stats?

my stats:
SAT 1 - oct: CR - 540, math - 710, writing - 700
dec: CR - 610, math - 750, writing - 630
SAT 2 - physics and chemistry - 690 each, math 2c - 760
TOEFL (although they're not as important) - 627 out of 677
high school GPA: 3.46 (rank: top 10%)

EC's:
won 2 inter-school quizzes, president of 3/4 councils, leadership training for 2 yrs, 2nd place in cricket tournaments, good tennis player as well, 1st and second places in research projects fair, grade 6 math teacher for 3 months, currently volunteer tutor for adult literacy classes and EC classes for government school children.

that's about it I guess

resend your SATS, that may help. (you probably already knew that though)

write a SHORT letter to someone that helped you in admisisons. (interview person?)

get an alumni interview if youre good a talking.

get good midterm grades.

HOPE FOR THE BEST!!

hey,
where did u hear from that bates had budget issues?? because i also got deferred and i was really dissappointed

anyways, i asked for an interview in november but they couldnt give me any due to non-availabilty of an alumni in my area....so what exactly do we write in that short letter????

i'm from Nepal. so i haven't had an alumni interview. and i'm sending the dec SAT scores. that SHORT letter idea is good. i'll send a commitment letter of some kind if that's okay.
and i was thinking about sending a paper about what i have been doing since high school.

collegeapps, what are you thinking of sending? and btw, what are your SAT scores?

well
just write a letter thanking them for taking the itme to look at all of the applications and amking the best decisions for their class. then say that you are still interested in Bates, and that it is still your first choice if it is. ehhh that is a little kiss assy but maybe if you can make it genuine it would be good. also make the card, with like construction paper or soemthing, i think that it is not even what you say, but if its a cute card they might remember you. i dunno really.

i dont know if i would send them a paper. THEY HAVE A LOTTTTTT to read and probably dont want to more. RD deadline is today, and they just got a buttload of apps.

maybe send a recomendation if the person could say stuff that is different from the others.

oh right, i meant to say, on the MIT forum theres a letter that you might want to read by a rejected student saying that she still loved MIT and that they ahd the best admissions people. blah blah, but she (or he) didn't have to worry about sucking up. but i would check it out.

get to some locaton to be interviewed. make that effort

i didnt send in my SATs.

and I dont think I will be sending any other materials in...at the most i will send an email / letter telling them that i am still interested in attending Bates...what about you?

I think I'll do the same + send in my Dec SAT scores.
