Alright, I’m finishing up my nomination packets and preparing for my CFA. When will they have something for me to do my DoDMRB exam? It says on the website that I am an “Applicant” and that I am “Competitive.” Do I just wait for them to send something? Or will it be online?

DoDMERB will send you a postcard in the mail telling you to schedule an appointment. Also, you will get a letter in the mail saying to complete the necessary forms online (where you check your status). This should happen pretty soon since summer is here.

those things will happen when the Academy deems you as a candidate. For me, this was the second week of June, but may be as late as January (if you get a nomination). Since you are competitive, this will probably happen sooner than later. At Summer Seminar they said most go out in August or so.

right now, just have a great summer. keep active physically, get in touch w/ your congressmen and senators. you'll get a letter (got mine in june) telling you you're a candidate and to go back to that website where they've got all sorts of forms. in july, you'll get a postcard from DoDMERthat says to schedule an exam w/in so many days and gives you a number to call. by that time, it'll almost be school time again.. if you CAN, and you're ready, i'd recommend doing the CFA and ALO interview before school if you'll be too busy. you should also make sure you get all your congressman/senator things in to them as soon as you can. that way you dont have to worry about it during the school year. other than that, enjoy your summer, because if you get in, it's your last one!

Alright, thanks. Couple off-topic questions:
1. Does the DoDMRB Exam need all my previous medical records, or is that only if I need a waiver? I had a heart murmur when I was a wee little lad.

When is BCT? I wanna visit the Academy during that time. Any suggestions what days/weeks?

Is anyone a member of the class of 2010 here? I wanna know who will make my life hell for a year if I do make it. ;)

they'll tell you if they need any previous records. i've broken my nose 5 times, jaw once, and right arm. i only had to show them things for the surgeries i had on my nose; they'll let you know

BCT for us (2012) starts june 26 and ends August 2. i'm not sure if you can visit during basic, i'm sure the current cay-dets can help out on that one ;)

You would only be able to observe BCT from the chapel area like training and formation. You will not be able to come down and see it up close. Even 2011 cannot interacts with basics.

eagle, G4C, raimius, PatriotCPM, groogwaugh, and myself are all 2010. (Sorry if I missed anyone!). We will have our fun with you if you get in. ;)

wont you all be having plenty of fun with us, too!? hahaha :)

I know eagle and I have committed to working BCT, next year.

I'm the 5'10'' guy. Go easy on me... ;)

So when would be the best time to visit? When is soaring and jumping going on, or even SERE training?

Soaring and jump start tomorrow, and run through until August. You can't have any interaction with CST, as far as I know.

Honestly, summer may not give you an accurate depiction of the Academy, when compared to visiting in the fall. I understand that visiting in the Fall is almost impossible for most people to do unless they live in Colorado, but if you could do it, it might show you what this place is like a little better. Nonetheless, definitely visit sometime if you can. I doubt any of us cadets on the board could escort you during the summer either.

I see. I might go in the Fall. Would anyone be able to escort me then? It would be nice to at least kinda know someone there...

i went in november and was able to get redhead to escort me for the day. it was amazing, despite being really really cold, like 50 :O hahaha ;) i definitely say visit if you can before march so you see life as a 4-dig before recognition. it was an experience. maybe one of us 2012ers could do it for you! just keep it in mind. see if your school gives seniors "college days" or something of the sort so you can get an excused absence.

Lucky for me, our school gives Seniors infinate college visit days. All you have to do is make up the work that you miss. With baseball and work right now I'm really busy. It slows down in the Fall when I just have school and work on the weekends. I'll probably visit September/October.

You should get the full on experience then packermatt7. You may want one of the 2012's that survive BCT to host you. It will give them the advantage of being at rest during the day you visit, and you will hear first hand the current 4* experience.

Good thinking. So you think that I should go in the Fall? When does BCT end? Cause baseball gets over the begginning of August, and school doesn't start till the end of August. Should I go in that time period?

You will not be able to visit until after labor day, and that is probably to soon. You should think about end of September or October. This will give a good look at Ac/Year
