I am currently a sophomore in high school and my plan is to major in computer science at the University of Michigan school of engineering. I am wondering what I can do to make my application stronger such as activities or clubs. I’m having a very hard time finding anything around where I live (Southfield Michigan) that caters to computer science. I’ve been thinking about starting a computer Science club at my school, does this sound like a good idea? Anyway to wrap it up what could I do to show uofm that I am dedicated and ambitious about computer science and software engineering that would help me get in to their school?
Check out edX.org and Coursera for free courses related to computer science and if you want to start a computer science club, go for it. The goal should not be to study CS at Michigan, but rather explore your academic interest in CS to an extent that you will be successful and happy wherever you end up.
