What should I do if I failed my ap class in my senior year?

I’m a senior with an unweighted GPA of 3.7 and 1500 on SAT.
BUT I’m naturally bad at math, and I got very sick recently and could not attend school regularly, therefore my senior grade is a horror. I got a D on my ap ab Calc class, and it would really hurt my chance of getting college admissions.
Yes, I’m trying to make it up by taking UC approved online class and hope it can help me a bit, I’m able to finish it by early February.
PLEASE tell me if anyone have any ideas about my chance getting into college right now.
The school I want to go the most is UCI, but i know all uc required their incoming freshmens to inform them about the dropping of the grades…
what should I do? would a decent grade on online classes help?

If the D sticks, the UCs will probably rescind your your acceptance. Though that analysis happens on a case by case basis. That said, they HATE being shocked by a transcript… so call them now and ask.

There are a few schools that still are accepting aps - If you don’t have a couple of CSUs on your Ap list, you may want to try UNR and a couple of privates

Good luck

If you do end up with a D, you need to send this information to the UC’s. Do everything within your power to get that grade up to a C- at least. Have you asked for extra credit? Gone to see your teacher for extra help? Look into hiring a tutor?

If there are changes to your academic record…

Freshmen: If you change schools, add or drop a course, or fail to earn a C or better in a course after you submit your application, you must notify the UC Application Center by email or postal mail. Your correspondence must include your name, UC Application ID number and your signature (if you mail a letter), and will be available to all the campuses to which you applied.

If you receive an offer of admission, be sure to confirm with the campus admission office that they are aware of the deficient grade or schedule changes. Although you must notify the campus of these changes, we cannot guarantee that a campus can go back to review an application after correspondence has been received. Make sure to save a copy of your correspondence just in case.

Thank you for giving me practical advices, do you think I’d retake online calc ap and be able to get an A would help on the admission? Btw the course is UC approved.
Since I was absent a lot this semester, my grade condition is pretty bad, I probably want to take another semester ap to bring my grade up.

Thank you for the advices. I’m currently enrolled in retaking online ap courses and they are UC approved, do you think that would help a bit on the admission? (I’m keeping an A right now.

I think that taking the initiative and already enrolling in a repeat class would give a favorable impression for admissions.

If you do end up with a D or F, you still need to report it with a reasonable explanation along with proof that you are retaking the course. I do not think they will reject you immediately since all acceptances are provisional anyways and they would probably wait until the final grades are posted.

Thank you so much kind soul and wish me luck.
