I’m a freshman at a small private school in Antioch.
GPA:4.0 (Only a freshman so it can definitely change but I’m trying my best)
Of course I haven’t taken ACT yet.
EC’s:
Football
Basketball
Plan on attending NYLF engineering and technology this summer
(I wan’t to pick up more EC’s next year ,mainly science club since I can’t do Quiz Bowl, I didn’t know I was coming to this school until last minute and didn’t have time to see what was offered and sign up)
I’m an African American male and also my mom is a nurse in the hospital.
I’ve heard that the NYLF thing is kind of just a money grab type thing. I wouldn’t do it unless it’s free.
For a freshman, you can’t really estimate chances that far out. The only thing that really matters at that point is getting good grades, and if you have a 4.0 there are no complaints. Everything looks good, just choose the things you are passionate about, and consistently do them well.
Otherwise, a good thing to do would be to just read a lot of high quality materials. Things like classic literature, or high quality news media like The Economist. It’ll end up making your test scores a lot higher.
