I want to learn how to do something fun, interesting, unique, has opportunities, and/or that is impressive (esp. to top colleges). If this activity fits most/all of these criteria I will dedicate my entire summer to becoming super good at it. Any ideas?

Top colleges like to see you doing what YOU want to do.

I want to go to the beach. Why would a college want to see that?

No, but I mean I want some suggestions for activities to do this summer. If I choose the activity, I will want to do it, partially because it is useful and will help me later in life (particularly college), but mostly because I enjoy doing it.

Have some fun.

I can’t think of anything good.

Give me some ideas.

Screw colleges. Do what you want to do.

I can’t think of anything good.

Give me some ideas.

volunteer in hospital

I have no idea what your interests are.

Well, I have a reading list that I plan on working on this summer. Colleges like kids who read, and finishing a list of 100+ classics on your own is pretty impressive especially if you like doing it. I like to read a lot, so it works for me, but I don’t know about you. But if you force yourself to do something for the sake of colleges noticing you, they will notice… but not the way you want them to.

You could obtain a job.

Learn a programming language? Or any language I guess.

Do research @ a university?

Volunteer maybe, I guess.

do what you want to do.

Hmm, those are all good ideas but I want to do something more like mastering some type of skill. Preferably a skill that is useful, interesting, fun, and/or unique.

For example, the reading list idea is cool but I don’t care to become a really good reader. Same goes for working, volunteering, etc., b/c I doubt I’d truly want to master whatever job I’d get. Research- maybe, but possibly same problem as in job. World language- maybe, but not really my thing. Programming- this is what I’ve half-decided on already.

Any other ideas?

Hang out with friends. Go to the beach. Have some bbqs. Party.

paint a mural w/ some friends

help out at a local zoo

volunteer w/ friends so ur not bored.

Watch the World Cup, take classes at the local CC and volunteer.

You really have to tell us what your interests are exactly for us to give you advice :)

For example, if you’re a debater, going to debate camp might be a good idea.
If you’re interested in biology, maybe doing an internship with a nearby college professor would be good.

Sorry, I have nothing new to contribute, i just love your name Jobbin…great movie, great line
