What should I do to prepare for the SAT's

So I'm going to be a junior in the fall and I wanted to take a preparation course for the sats, but there's a baby on the way in my family so I know that my mother wouldn't be able to spend hundreds of dollars on the course. My school will have prep courses but i heard that they are really crappy and that no one really pays attention plus there's always kids disturbing the class. so it looks like I'm going to have to prepare on my own, so does anyone have any tips? best books to use? best strategies? ANYTHING?

SELF-STUDYING as you would say. I’m kind of getting tired of people asking which are the best books to use… look at the stickies (featured threads) before posting these things, because it saves both you and I (plus the others who will be commenting) time.

Books: <a href=“SAT Books? Do not start new threads. Post HERE! - SAT Preparation - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1517736-sat-books-do-not-start-new-threads-post-here-p1.html</a></p>

When are you taking the SAT? If you’re taking the SAT in October/December like me, you should be in great position to prep (even if you have 150 PSAT etc…); people show great improvements over time such as the story of the CCer who had his SAT score fluctuate by 790+ points. Wow inspirational :))
