Well no not that exactly. I don’t know how to explain it. I want a fast paced environment. Not necessarily cut throat, but I want to be more independent, not to have everyone so close. I got that feeling from tamu. They’re nice and all, but I like more independence and privacy? That probably doesn’t make sense. I like in a town very much like college station right now and I HATE it. I used to live in Houston and Miami, so I’m used to the all-for-himself-mentality and I like that a little more. I want the ability to be much more diverse and I just didn’t feel that at tamu

You think UT is much more cut throat/fast paced than A&M?

Well in general it’s much more populated/diverse/youthful. So yes

I don’t see how UT is cutthroat (unless you’re pre-med, I guess).

I’m not sure if I saw it in the thread - but people should realize the Computer Science department at UT is NOT in the Cockrell Engineering school, it’s in the College of Natural Sciences, which has open enrollment.

So, don’t talk about engineering here. Computer Science isn’t engineering, especially at UT.

Yes, I knew that. Not necessarily competitive, but I just want a fast paced life. Tamu is slow and dry in comparison

Then it sounds like you know what you want to do! :). Apply to both so you have a safety and GOOD LUCK!!! :)

Otherwindow, yes, but it IS in engineering at TAMU, I believe. People are telling OP to make sure the application is in early because engineering fills up really fast there.

No worries there, already turned in both apps :p

UT CS program ranks pretty high in the nation and I hear their graduates can find jobs easier than other schools.
If you believe in this sort of things, that is. ;)
