Hi everyone,
Junior here and touring Brown next week. I signed up for an info session and tour and will email admissions about dropping in on a class. Is there anything I should do while at the school that would help me learn the most I can about the school and see if it’s a good fit? I’m hoping to pursue some sort of neuroscience/psychology/cognitive science in college so of course I look to Brown. I just want to learn as much as I can and show as much interest as possible. Thanks for any replies!

Edit: If there is already a thread about this, please link me to it! Thanks!

I believe admissions has a list of classes that are open to drop in on, so no need to email them.

If you at all have the chance, talk to a current student. If you know someone, email them - students are usually happy to sit down and talk to a prospie. If you don’t know someone, do your best to chat with someone after a class or in the campus center (Faunce house).

Eat in the Ratty (the cafeteria) and talk to students.
Wander around the new psych/cog sci building.
Walk along Thayer Street and visit the Brown bookstore.

I know there have been former threads on this topic – I suggest you search for them using the search function. Not sure why I should do that for you.

Try to avoid getting mugged-in brown its a common prob

That is not a common problem. Did you just join to ■■■■■ the forum?

I know my daughter used to give a talk about her research and how she got into research at Brown, so you can see if anyone is doing that. I don’t know if students with those majors you are interested in hang out in a particular library or building, try to find out. She always hung out in her dept library (SciLi?). Also you might be interest in the Brain Research Institute which is made up of interdisciplinary profs and researchers, although I don’t know how much undergrads are involved. Maybe find out?
