What should I do?

If I'm rejected from Penn State UP but accepted into Altoona, should I go to Altoona and then transfer to UP through the 2+2 program, or is it not worth it and should I just attend another school? UP is my dream school, but from the start I knew it was a bit of a reach. (Thanks to my slacking off my first two years of high school which resulted in a not-so-great GPA. Currently kicking myself for that..) I'm OOS, so I honestly do not know much about Altoona. I've read mixed opinions about it. I'm definitely more open to the idea of the 2+2 program than some people are, and I've read that if you really want to end up at UP (which I do) then it's definitely worth starting at a branch campus and transferring, and they say Altoona is probably the best branch campus (with it being less than an hour from UP and all). But at the same time, I've heard if you're not accepted into UP right away it's not even worth it and that Altoona is not even worth your time...I'm in a bit of a predicament, as you can tell, haha. Any advice on what I should do? I appreciate it in advance.

Can you visit Altoona, take a tour and talk with students there? If you can do that, it will help you to make a decision. Only you can decide where you will be happy and what type of campus will be a good fit for you… My D visited Altoona but it was too small for her and she decided she would only attend Penn State if she got into main campus. So, she only listed UP on the application. Thankfully, she got accepted there. Best of luck in your decision.

I’m OOS and got accepted to UP, but honestly I told myself that if I didn’t get into UP, its just not worth me spending all that money and hassle going to a branch campus for 2 years when I could stay in state and get a better expierence

Thanks for the input, guys. I’m so keen on Penn State because I know they have one of the best meteorology programs around. I’ve researched almost every college in state, and not a single one has a meteorology program, so I’ll have to go out of state anyway…

I’m just debating whether it’s worth going to Altoona then transferring to UP after two years (since the switch from a branch campus is guaranteed according to my research) or if I should just attend another school. So I guess in a sense I’m asking what you would personally do in this situation.

(Also, I should note that I’m still a junior in high school…but I’m just already preparing myself for the fact that my acceptance to UP is not guaranteed. I do believe I may have a shot, but it’s borderline. I’m pretty sure I’ll get into Altoona though. Sorry for any confusion.)
