I’m a Senior …class of 2015 …i applied to several colleges such as UNCG , ECU , and A&T … I have a GPA of 3.16 i’ll be taking my SAT for the first time in March ! i took my ACT on my junior year but i didn’t do so well on it (14 composite )
my teachers wrote me some good recommendation letters …
i applied to UNCG first but unfortunately i didn’t get accepted because of my low ACT score
and i just applied to ECU & A&T but i’m so scared that they’ll reject me as well cuz of my ACT score
i feel like im not going to get accepted into any college cuz of my ACT score
Why did you submit an ACT score of 14?
I don’t think that any advice would help you at this point of time, what’s done is done. So just cross your fingers and hope for the best.
I would try and find some other test optional schools that have rolling admissions so you have somewhere to go in case these ones don’t work out.
Most school’s don’t accept any tests past the January sat and the February act - so it may not be worthwhile to go on with the march testing, unless you’re considering taking a gap year?
This week, speak to your Guid counselor on what others, in similar situation have done. I’m sure she/he can give you some good comm college options or other schools that can fit your academic achievement. Frankly, your ACT14 places you at the 12th percentile of others taking the exam – indicating lack of readiness for college work overall. Your GC will have the best advice for you. Good luck
You may be better off going to community college first, taking some remedial classes. Is English your first language? What math class are you taking right now? Is that 3.1 weighted? Why didn’t you retake that ACT in the Fall of Senior year?
Why are you just taking the SAT now? Why didn’t you retake the ACT after you got that abysmal score and/or study? You had a lot of time to prepare yourself and it doesn’t seem like you were able to seize those opportunities. You should talk to you GC on Monday and ask about what community college options are available for you.
EDIT: Also in all honesty, your GC should have been talking to you about community college options way before this. Or giving you counsel about taking the SAT or ACT…did the GC advise you but you ignored it?
