Am i an idiot? I feel like im going to be happier at UF. Money although an issue wasnt a huge one. My parents were more than willing to pay for cornell. I just feel that i will be happier staying in state and going to UF. SO, did i make a horrible decision?

No you made a very mature decision that unfortunately most don't do.

I agree. If you think you'll be happier somewhere, that is the best place for you. College is only what you make of it-- you can get as good an education at UF as at Cornell.
Plus, Cornell's really cold.

i agree w/ milki. i think i takes a lot to see past the prestige and the rankings to see who you are and pick a college that is a good fit for you.

i know where you are coming from. i got into UMiami but i chose James Madison University (in-state) because i think i will be happier there.

congrats.

I think it was a good choice. Pick the college you like the most.

Depends... what career goals do you have in mind?

Agree^, depends what your goals are.

Congrats on your decision twista. I am actually happy to see someone pick a good fit over prestige. Your decision is truly inspirational, being that I am battling the same thing. I think I have made my decision and I am not going to go with the prestige, rather what feels right. Thanks!

Good Luck at UMiami and with your business aspirations Smartbrotha.

(Invest that extra 40,000)

Good decision. Go somewhere you want to go, rather than for prestige.

Yea it was a tough decision but i figure i can go to a prestigous school for my graduate degree now is the time to go where i am happy.

You know what, if you like UF better, then good for you! I have friends who've done the same thing...go where you're happy, not to the school whose window sticker you'd like to have.

Of course you should go to a school at which you can be happy. For many of us, we can be happy lots of places! There's nothing wrong with considering how the school will do in helping meet your personal goals. For me personal happiness includes knowing I'm moving toward where I want to go. Hugely important to me is the unusual schedule my college of choice is on. It would be hard to get a great internship every summer but I can get them easily in the fall and winter. I'll have much more experience than most upon graduation. That's more impt than a few ranking points. You've got to look at what the school has to offer YOU!

Yeah. I chose San Jose State over UCLA.

So what factors made you decide on UF over Cornell?

My daughter passed over Cornell in favor of Kansas State. Cornell has a top ten college of agriculture and a great pre-vet program/vet school. So does K-State, for less than 1/2 the cost of Cornell. I agree with the other posters. Go to a school that not only has a good program in your intended area of study, but also one that will make you happy. Prestige isn't everything.
