What should I do?

I came back to my dorm today and all my stuff had been moved, white dust was over all my crap (pretty thick layer), and they put in a window into the laundry room next to me. I knew they were kicking me out of my room eventually to make it into a common room, but I thought they'd at least give me the common decency of telling me first. I probably won't be able to fall asleep because the light from the laundry room is so bright... And I know some one is going to have the great idea of banging on it or watching me sleep. I don't want to be watched while I sleep, haha.

Doesn't this violate some kind of unspoken "bill of rights for dorm students?"

I sent out a well-written email to all the reslife people and a few deans and the provost... hopefully something good will happen. What do you all think I should do?

Could you maybe put up a curtain over the window??

Shower curtain type thing maybe... nothing that has to be mounted. I'm just ****ed off they started doing stuff to the room before they even told me I was moving out. I could have stayed home this week and commuted to school for this week until it was all sorted out, but I was never told anything.

Lol. It sucks because they look at your stuff and just said, What? O well.

I don't know.. Maybe an apology. Don't think they will pay you for your damages.

I would be pretty mad about something like that. Definitely try and take that up with the administration, and be firm with them.

In the meantime, yeah, just try some kind of curtain.

Tape a garbage bag over the window ASAP!

ResLife came in today and covered the window after my complaining email. It turns out they're moving me (turning my room into a common room, ***?) and my new roommate is a cokehead. His last roommate was a coke dealer who got expelled. FUN FUN FUN.

keep pushing...
I'm no lawyer, but that kind of conduct would seem to be in direct violation of tenant laws (which give pretty extensive protections to tenants), especially if you weren't notified ahead of time. they owe you damages if anything was damaged, so don't be afraid to do a little research and threaten a suit if they don't fix the problem -- and then some

ask for a free single dorm. FOR FREE!!! or sue

matter fact, throw in a free meal plan.

Maybe some free A's Lol.
