ive been accepted to ucla... but im going to have to pay out of state tuition. ive applied for fafsa and will get grants but it will not cover the whole tuition. i will have to apply for loans and such. my dad is currently living in Arizona. im starting to think if I should just go to u of a. what are your thoughts on that? is ucla worth the money?

i plan on getting into the business field. by the way im a transfer student. ive applied as a sociology major at ucla. but im confident if i go to U of A id go under business. what should i do? to my understanding ucla does not let their students change majors to econ or bizecon.

If you decide to go to ucla you will definately not be able to switch to business they stopped allowing that for business and communication studies majors. If you want business then go to u of a because in the long run nobody will care where you graduated from and a sociology degree is not a great degree to have going into business law school is a possibility but MBA programs and such rarely admit sociology majors. just soemthing to think about.

I think it depends where you want to work after school. While UCLA is known and respected all over the Country, U of A will carry a lot less weight outside of Ariazona. UCLA is also a much better school to apply top top business schools from. MBA programs have no problem with sociology majors, just get a high GPA and GMAT score and you'll be fine. So in the end, if you qualify for some grants and the loans are doable, UCLA may well be the better investment.

If you want to study business, but are unable to at UCLA, go to U of A. The Eller Business school is excellent. Don't be concerned about having better chances at top graduate schools with UCLA. As long as you prove yourself at any good school, you stand an equal shot. If money is a big issue, definitely go for the in-state tuition in Arizona. Good school, good price, ability to transfer amongst majors freely. Can't beat it. Good luck.

so everyone agrees huh? u of a or asu is the way to go? i hear that asu's business is better? the thing is that i worked pretty hard to get into ucla. letting it go is going to be pretty hard. maybe its a matter of pride. i dont know for sure, i guess its something im going to have to really think hard about.

the difference between harvard and ucla seems to be the difference between ucla and asu or u of a. but i guess there could be rare cases where many students do turn down ivies for la or berk.
