what should I retake? (nov 5th!)

My SAT scores = 2200 - CR 800 W 770 (essay 7) M 630
I'm told that colleges don't really consider the writing score though, so this may effectively be 1430 (CR +M)

My SAT 2 scores: literature 680 french 680 maths 1c 700

I'm already registered for SAT 1 on the nov 5th test date but I'm considering doing a standby (space is guaranteed) for the subject tests (only lit and maths are available) instead.
I tihnk my lit score can go way up, (i was expecting 750+), maths 1c stay the sameish and no idea with the sat math though id imagine up. (writing up too probably with an essay that isn't abyssmal btu it'sonly a 30 point margin meh).
i'm applying early decision for columbia to put these into context.

so yes opinions please - should I switch to sat 2s or just stick with retakign the sat?

bump,some help PLEASE?

??? anyone?

Hi

Good question. Looking at your stats, there doesn't seem to be a clear cut answer..... I don't know much about Columbia...........

Having a SAT Reasoning score of 2200 is awesome (!) although the math score does look weak. I've heard, just here on CC, that most schools look at SAT Reasoning more than Subject tests, and that it is best if you can get 700 on all the subjects. Your SAT Subject tests are all clustered around 680 - 700............hmmmm

OK, this is just my personal opinion, I would retake the SAT Reasoning if you were prety sure you could bring up the math score at least 40 points. I just made that figure up, but to me, 670 looks better than 630.

If you were to retake the SAT Reasoning and score 650, I don't think it makes that much of a difference so you might as well retake the SAT 2.

Congratulations on your incredible 800 in reading and and really awesome 770 in writing!

Best to you!
FresnoMom

yup, I figured this too.I can definitely get my maths up I dropped it 2 years ago with the a level system so the SAT threw me off but having done a bitof it for the sat 2 I guess it should be better now. plus i save a lot of money so yay.

Depending on the level of math (trigonometery) you have gone through, you might want to consider taking the math II exam; the curve is much more lenient, and you have a better chance of a high score

your math score is very weak for columbia. You must retake for a better chance.

ouf well i did the sat 1 in the end i gues we'll seein a month eep but cheers anyway
