No his is the Catholic school but the T school is in our area. I wonder if we know any of them from church, soccer … I think the word is getting around here in our neck of the “sun” that CRIMSON (without the gold) is worth looking into.

^^^

I know which school your son is from. The school is awesome! The T school is very close by. I went to the Catholic high in Fullerton…Rosary…all girls. lol

Do you know the Rommel family or the Gianotas family? The Gianotas’ D graduated this June and their S graduated a year or two ago. I think the Rommels’ youngest graduated a couple of years ago.

I was hoping that my Servite nephew would come to Bama…he LOVED it when he visited, but his parents put the big pressure for him to stay in Calif. :(

Had we stayed in L.B. I would’ve sent my daughters to Rosary - older D shivers at the thought. lol I’m an all-girl Catholic h.s. grad myself - we survived, I tell her you can’t beat not stressing over your morning “looks” and plenty of time to look good for ALL the guys waiting for us to get out.

S would’ve been off to Servite. Big rivals now. Was your nephew on football or basketball teams that I might have seen him? Their football team is intimidating just coming out of the waiting area onto the field. Don’t tell me he’s off to the - other - Crimson team.

Rommel - not ringing a bell - maybe before us, oldest started in 2005.

Gianotas sounds familiar - may know by face/first name. I do a lot of volunteering.

Bump…

New to the thread, son looking to enter UA in Fall 2012. We live in Rockville, MD, but son attends Montgomery Blair HS in Silver Spring, MD. Thanks, M2CK, for all you do on these threads.

^^^

You’re welcome! :)

My daughter (incoming fWreshman) and I are from Herndon, VA (DC suburbs). I second the thanks to M2CK!!

vcm123: What will your D be studying?

VCM…Welcome!!!

:)

m2ck: I go to school at a private school in Anaheim!

Socal2bama: I’m from the OC!(:

Hey, I figured I would finally post on this thread since I have already been making other posts. I’m from RI, I don’t think I have seen anyone posting here from RI, so I feel lonely hahaha. UA is a really nice school. Unfortunately, it’s lower on my list, just because they don’t offer my first choice major.

m2ck: I go to school at a private school in Anaheim!

Send me a pm and tell me which one.

Hi everyone! NJ checking in. My daughter is going to be a senior this year and is going to be applying. Alabama is one of her top choices. She is going into nursing and also wants to try out for their cheering squad. While her grades are great and her courses a mix of CP, Honors and AP she did not do as well she expected on the SAT. She has been dealing with some health issues for the past year and was sick both times she took the test and her scores definately do not match her ability.

Karen

Welcome!

Will your D test again? Have her take the ACT…some do better with that. There’s a test in Sept.

Yes she is signed up for both the SAT and the ACT. I am hoping that we have her health issues under control and that she won’t be sick!

Well, if you can, sign her up for…

ACT…Sept and Oct

SAT…Oct and Nov

Those are the ones used for scholarships. You won’t be able to wait to see scores before signing up for the next test. But, this gives your D 4 shots at feeling her best for testing.

:)

If she likes bananas, they help with alertness. I would look up the foods that help with alertness and try to incorporate into her diet…especially that day.

Good luck.

Hi All. Long-time lurker, though I seldom get to post.

D2 is a rising Senior, from TN. We visited Alabama last spring. So impressive! She needs to get to that magic 32 ACT before we can put it on the short list, but she has a 31 now, and is set up with some intensive tutoring between now and the Sept 10 test date. It’s all about the money at this point.

We are only about 4 hours north of T-town, and have loads of friends/neighbors who go there.

On another note, I am origianlly from O.C. I have a niece at Rosary and two nephews who graduated from Servite. It’s quite a different place than when I grew up ON A CHICKEN FARM in the city of Orange in the 1970’s!

Lastly, a warm shout-out & THANK YOU to m2ck! I get so much from your posts…always informative, but also energetic, positive and sweet. You are quite a great ambassador for UA!

Welcome Melbert! Roll Tide!!

Welcome! And, thank you for your kind words.

Sign your D up for both the Oct and Nov ACT tests…

What was her ACT breakdown? She may do better on the M+CR SAT.

*

I’m all about Rosary and Servite. As I mentioned above, I went to Rosary. In my family we either went or go to Rosary or Servite…with a few going to Mater Dei.

I still go to Servite football games when I’m in Calif in the Fall. Credo. Go Friars.

Pennsylvania (Steeler’s Country)

H & S will visit UA this fall. Hoping that S will have a good experience that he can envision himself attending UA. Really impressed with what I read about the Honors Program.
