What summer classes should I take as a bio major (UCR)?

I'm going to take some summer classes at UCR, the only problem is I don't have time to talk to a counselor or anything and I don't know what classes to take.

From assist.org the only two courses I need to take that I didnt take at my CC are "Intro to Organismal Bio" and the Physics series (I took Physics at my CC but UCR wants a higher up one)

Is that bio class offered during the summer? What about the first part of the Physics series?

If none of those are, what else can I take to work towards finishing my bio degree earlier (like any upper division bio classes etc)

You should go to UCR’s course catalog and make a list of all the classes you still need to take in order to graduate. In addition, list which quarters they are offered and all of the pre-reqs necessary. I usually do this in an Excel file. From assist.org, you can determine which classes you’ve already completed. Next, go to the UCR summer schedule and search for classes that you have already filled all of the pre-reqs for. Make another list of all of these classes and their available times & use ratemyprofessor to pick which classes might be easier to take. Try to focus on taking classes during the summer that might fulfill a pre-req for your Upper Division classes. For example, have you completed Bio 5A-C? Can you start the Phys sequence? Physics is often offered in the Summer at UCR. These are things that you need to be able to look up for yourself. You shouldn’t need a counselor to figure out everything for you at this point in your academic career.

This is totally unrelated, but when does UCR annouce the fin aid awards for summer . I’m cool with taking out a loan , but I’m grant eligible and I think UCR will give me something to help out with summer school.

And I need these summer units to get to junior standing by Fall so while the class types aren’t all that important( I’m just short by like 5 elective units- ) I’d still like to get them done so I can start upper division course work .

Assist.org only lists lower division classes though doesn’t it? From what I’ve seen I only need Bio 5B and Physics 2A-C. Neither the Bio class or Physics 2A seems to be offered in the summer though.

Where can I find out what classes I need to take as upper division to graduate?

Google UCR Course catalog  And yeah I was just saying to look up assist to see what lower division you still need but you already did that.

Oh and I think UCR requires an ethnic studies class in addition to IGETC and possibly an Upper Divison Humanities/Social Science. That info will be in the course catalog also so if you can’t take any major pre-reqs over the summer, maybe you can fulfill that. That’s really all I know though. I know Summer Reg starts this week so you could call them to ask some general info about those requirements tomorrow before you select classes.
