Please help me. I need to start thinking about them/applying now. Thanks in advance!

Few good ones. Many colleges offer some, but they are expensive. Apply to RSI and/or TASP your junior year.

I wish I had done an IB prep class. But do a PSAT prep class. Or something cool and nerdy and fun. I want to go to space camp!! :(

Bumping this, because I'm curious as well.

I know of RSI, TASP, etc. but those are for upcoming seniors. I'm curious what colleges find most impressive between sophomore and junior year.

I am currently a junior this year but last summer, I had such a terrible time applying to summer programs. As already stated, most programs are for rising seniors but really, you just have to apply and apply to a lot. I applied to like 10 (SSP, NASA SHARP,UF, FSU, YESS at Caltech, UIowa, etc.) I dont even rememebr all of them now. and you would think o why would soem of these programs accept rising juniors if there are so many rising seniors. and i dont know the answer. so the outcome: i got rejected from all except UIowa, NASA SHARP, SSP (deffered, most likely because I was a sophomore) and eneded up going NASa SHARP (sadly, this program is no longer in existant anymore). If it doesnt work, volunteer in your community, get a job, reseach at a local univeirsty. Dont really do anything because its impressive, do it because you enjoy and and if you do, you can get the most out of it.

naansian, you make it sound like getting rejected from all those was bad. You got into SHARP as a sophomore, which is REALLY good.

To the OP: if you are looking to impress colleges, I would say don't apply to anything beyond SSP, or perhaps some other research programs. Where do you live? If there's a university near by, think about doing some summer research. If you can get with a partner, Siemens Westinghouse is a really good competition that you can try for.

It was just extreme luck that got me in, i think. Just didnt want to get any hopes up too high cuz it was depressing to gather like 7 rejectiong letters.

If you're like really really good at math, or some type of science, you could try going for the science olympiad trianing camps, which look good to colleges (but that's not why you should do them). But those are really hard to get into, especially as a sophomore.

Well I have a genuine interest and passion for math and science but I'm also looking for a hook. I'd enjoy doing any of these camps if I were accepted. However, my math and science isn't up to par compared to a lot of other applicants because I'm taking it slow so I don't run out of classes to take by senior year. I'd have finish only AP Bio, Chem, Physics B, Calculus AB, and Stats by the end of junior year compared to other applicants who'd have finish Physics C and BC as well. It makes me pretty worried for when application time comes for RSI and such.

I live in California in the bay area.. (San Francisco) My sister is a graduate from UC Berkeley in MCB so she could probably network me to research with one of her professors but I don't know if that'd be the best choice for the upcoming summer if there are better choices (camps for upcoming juniors? which is what i'm asking for). She's really good friends with and currently works for one of her professors who's a nationally known professor for Molecular Cell Biology...

I don't know if that post made any sense.
Man this site makes me paranoid.

Any other programs, you guys? =]
