What Summer Programs Does Penn Offer to High School Students?

I looked at the website but it was a little unclear. Can anyone clarify?

It seemed pretty clear to me.

http://www.sas.upenn.edu/summer/programs/highschool

@skieurope please stop being so cynical. Does anyone have answers besides redirecting me to the website?

This isn’t a summer program, but Penn offers a fly-in program in the early fall for minority or low income applicants. Would that be what you’re looking for?

@metsfan9 Then perhaps you need to better articulate what you are looking for in a program if you would like us to assist you.

geez @metsfan9: The link that skieurope sent you to has 20 programs. Are you saying you want/need more info? On what? Admissions? Details of the programs? You’re the one who is unclear.

To clarify, what confused me was when it said the Young Scholars Program is “open to high school juniors and seniors who attend local high schools.” Does this mean that if I live out of state I cannot attend?

The Young Scholars program is a commuter program (so you must live in the vicinity). This is probably not the program you want if you live out of state. You should look at the Pre-College program instead.

thank you! would anyone know the approximate acceptance rate to the Pre-College Program?

basically, the acceptance rate is pretty considerable considering you need to pay approxiamately ten thousand dollars for it. nevertheless, it is a pretty valuable experience for me. at most classes you study with undergrads in penn who are very expert at being a student. you can therefore learn a lot about penn from people who actually lived there for one year or more. but in terms of grading, some professors prefer curves, that’s to say, you need to work extra hard to get a good grade. good luck!

I participated in the LEAD Program at Wharton; it’s definitely worth looking into.

I got into the Leadership in the Business World (LBW) program for summer 2014. Didn’t go, but people who did went said it was amazing – especially if you want to go into business/Wharton. Definitely check it out! If I’m not mistakened, the application deadline is in January sometime.

http://www.wharton.upenn.edu/academics/lbw.cfm

I heard the acceptance rate is around 25%-30%. I got into without sending any standardized test scores, so I think decisions are made more based on your extracurricular activities, essays, and teacher recommendations!

I also attended the LEAD Program at Wharton with @midwestbandie‌. It is a phenomenal program to attend and a great organization to be a part of.
