What text is everyone using for APUSH and what do you think about it?
I'm using Pageant and I hate it, it goes off on random tangents.

Brinkley's textbook. I despise it.

Am Pag-I'm at Ch 22 (crazy teacher!)...and I totally agree. I'm worried my grasp of history will be reduced to knowing crazy nicknames and slogans instead of facts. plus, isn't it weird how they talk about a president, and then go back to the election?! Blah, I haven't learned anything for all the work i've done!

Out of Many. i don't really like it. We are on chp 14 and by the end of dec i think we will be done with chp 18.

American Pageant. My class is so slow!!! We're only on chap 12.

my school uses "a people and a nation"

Brinkley..American History: A Survey

we also read "The American Political Tradition" by Hofstadter

i used the American Pageant...it was ok, but chapter 25(?) was loonnnggg and borriinnggg...i was prepared for the APUSH exam, though, so i guess it worked out.

We also use "A People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn as suplemental reading.

^^^so did we, but technically, i didn't read it...

We used A People and A Nation last year and I thought it was great. The class wasn't much help, but I read that entire textbook. I was very prepared when I started reviewing with the "Cracking the AP" US History book.

Pagent, we're on 15.

I used Brinkley last year. Compared to this year's AP Gov (Wilson) textbook and the AP Euro (McKay) textbook in sophomore year, I have to say Brinkley was the most entertaining (if you can call it that) and easiest to read. He actually made some topics tolerable and somewhat pleasurable to read whereas the other two pretty much ruin/ed the class for me.

I use the Pageant while the remaining class use another book but I be like "fu** you mean I ain't reading that sh**!"

we use American Pageant. We're on chapter 20 and supposedly that's slow bc the other school in my district is moving 1.5x faster at 3 chapters/wk.

American Pageant

we are on chapter 11

The Enduring Vision, although I primarily study through AMSCO.

The Enduring Vision by Boyer (I took AP US last year).

I guarantee you that's the best one out there. Apparently my AP US teacher called Boyer hunky sometime this year....weirdo. lol.

Brinkley's... It's okay for the most part. I'm not sure how ready I'll be.

I also have Don't Know Much About History and REA APUSH backing me up

America's History 4E. I haven't heard anyone else using it for APUSH, but I really like it. Especially compared to the Pageant. It seems so biased. lol, I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about... going off calling people stupid and whatnot.

Interesting style...
