WHAT THE HECK! ACT takers don't have to take subject tests???

I hate the ACT. Cry.

But no, most just require that by itself although it could be advantageous to submit both.

With the ACT you have to send each individual test, unlike the SAT where every test you’ve taken is sent to your colleges. If you’ve taken the ACT more than once, should you send all your ACT scores or just your best one?

No simple answer. Most colleges do not superscore ACTs but just use that ACT test with highest composite. However, some do supersocre (use highest section scores from multiple tests to determine composite to be considered for admission). Thus, what the particular college does is a factor that determines whether you should just send one or more.

Then you have the new anti-score choice rule adopted by a number of colleges (but still the minority) beginning this year which says that you must submit all scores and asks you to confirm that you are submitting all as part of your application.

Then you have some schools that consider the English and math sections as the most important or even consider only those sections – examples, Gtech and Rose Hulman use only the English and math scores to determine admission and ignore the rest (yes, those engineering schools ignore the science section). Thus, in deciding which test to send it can be critical to send that one with the highest math and English scores even if the composite is lower than the other test you took.
