what time do decisions come out?

Worried wasn’t the right word. I am just acknowledging the possibility.

It’s possible. I suspect, however, that decisions are done and things are just being finalized, so they essentially just have to flip a switch to release decisions.

There was a post on the blog (in response to a comment) by Erin or one of the officers saying there won’t be any delay due to weather.

Off topic-ish, I love how people are all of a sudden flaming NCSU and App State. I really want decisions out tomorrow so this whole stupid scenario can end. I really hope not many of those ignorant people go to UNC.

cool story bro

You can be certain that the admissions committee has completed their part of the process. You may have noticed that the UNC website is frequently being updated by IT and down for maintenance over the weekend. Unfortunately, the computer systems urgently needed updating this year (anyone familiar UNC’s old email system will know how desperately it needed work). The data load will not be a problem but if we end up losing power due to an ice storm tonight… and regarding those little hints some students have received… It’s really unfortunate that you are going through the application cycle during the IT transition because the UNC admissions cycle usually runs quite smoothly. In years past, EA applicants have been ‘pleasantly surprised’ to see the decisions posted earlier than the estimated date. Then, accepted students would start receiving invitations to various events (scholar day, shadow day, decision day, visit-campus-&-get-your-UNC-OneCard-now-day, etc). The planning, scheduling, staffing for these events were set before the IT issues were known. Just like every other year, admissions will have identified various groups of students for different events and the invitations are starting to go out. If you happened to get an invitation, congrats! If you did not get one yet, don’t assume bad news! You may still be getting a merit scholarship or invite to a scholarship interview weekend or an experience-UNC-&-get-your-OneCard-today through your event portal. Keep in mind that they are just now evaluating the RD pool and no one will be short changed in the process.

UNCMentor, thanks for a very thoughtful post. My point is that when they knew they were delaying decisions, couldn’t they have delayed the other events as well? Especially the phone calling?

All frustration aside, does anyone know what time we should expect decisions to be up?

This was on the blog…
“I know this is hard to believe, but I don’t know what time we’ll post decisions. This is the first time we’ve posted decisions with this new system, and we have a number of checks we have to run through before the decisions go live. We don’t know how long it’ll take us to complete these checks, but once they’re done, we’ll post.”
