Hi, I will be moving into my dorm this month and I hear they are rather small, so what are good and not so good things to bring with with me? I’ll be staying in Smith in a double.
This is what Case recommends you to bring:

The link above is very useful and would also suggest a few other items:
- A long Ethernet cord. Wi-Fi can be spotty at times in the older dorms so having the ability to connect a different way could be very useful! There are outlets in the dorm rooms. Make sure the cord is long so you can use your laptop on your bed, etc.
- A fan is mentioned on the Case list so just a couple of observations - most dorms don't have AC so a fan is important. Cleveland can be pretty warm & humid in August & September so fans are important! On the flip side, when the weather gets cold, the dorms do tend to be very warm once the heat kicks. Really heavy bedding probably isn't needed.
- Like many college dorms, the mattresses aren't very thick. Adding a thick mattress topper (2-3") improves the comfort and you'll get at least 2 years out of it!
Costco now has their mattress topper on sale for $79.99 and those last much longer. Pricey but you will have the most comfortable bed according to all of my kids experiences.
Either get single or multi over door hooks to hang on your headboard to hang towels, coats, backpacks or just about anything. Also get command strip hooks for elsewhere you need to hang things. Command strips to hang posters etc.
Thank you for the tips! Yes that list was sent to me yesterday, so I will go over it and start planning.
Extension cord is a must. But there is a Target within driving distance if you rather just buy them there.
