What to bring to Pomona interview

Hi CCer's--

I've got an interview at Pomona on Friday (I'm a little nervous :P ) and was wondering what to expect. How formal is it, typically? What kinds of questions should I be prepared to answer? Also, I've got a question regarding what to bring into the interview. Should I have an academic r

My daughter dressed very casually (shorts, I think), and did not take a resume. Her hazy recollection is that the senior who interviewed her had at least looked over her application - probably not the case for you, as you haven’t applied yet. I’m sure it would be fine to offer one if you have it ready. Nobody would think that’s pompous; you could just ask if the interviewer if s/he would like to have it. But I wouldn’t say it’s essential, either.

Good luck, and just look at it as an opportunity to learn more about Pomona.

Thanks FauxNom! I think I’ll take one just in case. Hoping for the best!

I wore a nice dress…did not bring a resume but I DID bring a notepad with a list of questions about pomona that I had. It’s really important that you have questions prepared so that when they ask you, you sound really enthusiastic and curious :)

OCsagehen–good tip! What kinds of questions did your interviewer ask you?

Hmm it was more of a conversation…she mainly wanted to know about myself, my highschool…what I liked what I didnt like about it, extracurriculars and clubs i was involved in and what I liked about them. Then she switched over to things about Pomona. Why I wanted to go there, what interested me about it etc…then she left it up to me to ask her questions. So I asked things like, what is the most popular major, is being in a small school environment limiting at times, things like that :)

OCsagehen–That doesn’t sound too bad at all! Thanks for putting me at ease :)

Heyy I’m interviewing at Pomona this Saturday, what should I wear? How fancy? (I’m a guy.)

My son wore khaki pants and a lightweight sweater. He was probably about as “dressed” as he could be without being overdressed. A shirt with a collar and any casual pants would be fine, I’m sure.
He also brought his list of activities and interests. He said the interview was very relaxed.
He graduated a couple of years ago…loved it.
