What To Do After Realizing It Is Too Late and Failing a Class at a UC

So, I'm a first year at a UC and like some college freshmen, I didn't take things as seriously as I should have and I have realized that I am most likely going to fail my chem class. Even though I do have regrets, like maybe I should have picked an easier professor or just taken more time to study, it's too late to do either of those things. Finals are within 3 weeks at max and my last chance is to do extremely well on the finals (which although is unlikely, I'd like to hope that it is a possibility). Ultimately with the coming holidays, it makes it really tough to manage my time. Even though it is also a bad idea to be thinking that I'll fail, at least, I'd like to be prepared. Does anyone know the policies for failing a required class? Since it's my first year, I am honestly worried I will get kicked out and I was also wondering, if I were to retake the class, is it like high school in which your retake grade simply replaces the F?

Sorry if this question seems rather redundant.

You won’t get kicked out for failing a required class, but if your GPA falls below 2.0 as a result of one failed class, I believe you will be put on academic probation. You’ll get the opportunity to repeat a class for which you got a D or F in, and then your retake grade replaces the F–HOWEVER, your official transcript will show both the F and the new grade.

If you are taking 16 units now then you can withdraw the class to receive grade W on transcript instead of D or F. W does not count for GPA.

Correction: You cannot withdraw if you go to UC Davis.
