What to do the summer before college ?

Am I supposed to relax and have fun or is there something certain I should do ?What did you guys do?

-job?
-internship?
-hang out with friends ?

Also how would I find an internship ? (Preferably a United Nations related one) I have no idea where to look.

Your summer, your decision completely.

There’s nothing you really have to do the summer before going to college, except maybe get anything college-related sorted (which your college will notify you of).

What do you think will the the best way to spend your time?

Honestly at this point, it may be a little late to find an internship. Most take many months of advanced planning

I’d say relax and enjoy your summer. Or pick up a small/part-time job so you’ll have some spending money in the fall. But it’s really up to you.

Get a part time job and enjoy the rest of your time. You’ll appreciate the extra money

Taking one or two classes at a local university or college could help you get a feel for what college courses are like and what is expected in one (Just don’t pay too much for the courses!).

It’s probably too late to get any significant internship. I’d recommend geting a part time job (especially if you don’t have any work experience already), pack for college, and do whatever else you like to do for fun. The job is really just to give you something productive to do, give you some work experience if you don’t already have a ton, and give you some extra money for college. If there’s other things you’d like to do (like travel, outdoors activities, etc), then by all means, feel free to do those instead. Just do something to keep yourself busy so that your not lounging around at home all day. Whatever you like to do is fine.

If it interests you, is convenient and affordable, and would work for the university you will be attending, how about taking a summer school class at a local CC? You can even take an online class. This will give you a leg up on credit hours and maybe you can take lighter loads. Just make sure the credit will transfer to your university.

At this point it’s probably too late to find formal programs. The application deadlines are usually in March/April or even earlier.

I’m also an incoming freshman, and I’m mostly just hanging around at home and going for walks. I had a part-time job at McDonald’s for two years, but I quit at the beginning of the summer. In July I’ll be doing a paid job at a summer program for middle school students, and I think I’m going to volunteer at a local children’s museum for a few weeks. I applied to a summer program that allowed graduating seniors, but I didn’t get in. I was thinking of taking a class at a local college, but they were expensive and they didn’t really have anything that looked interesting.

Before my freshman year, I had a full-time job doing conservation work/camping all over the state for a month, so I didn’t have time to hang out with my friends during that, but I had the rest of the summer completely free. It was a nice compromise and I had some bonus spending money when I started college!

Job shadow.

I’m working all summer, as I have for the previous two summers. Saving up to pay for college!

Work a part time job and enjoy your life. Hang out with friends, sleep, watch movies, travel around a bit if you can. Take it easy!

RELAX!!! Don’t do anything but have fun. Buy stuff for your dorm but just relax. You have the rest of your life to be productive, take your last chance to be unproductive.

Now is the best and possibly only time to do a ton of nothing (stay away from academics if you can, it’ll take some time to snap out of Senioritis but do that after college starts) and dream about college.
Summer might take forever to end (bittersweet) but then all of a sudden it’ll hit you :D

And yes, it is a good idea to acquire money before becoming a broke college student. If you don’t have a job during the school year you’re going to need the cash to survive the expenses such as road trips with college friends or lots of eating out that is going to hit you.
