What to do with an INTERVIEW if you suddenly get sick?? help me plz.

ohkay,

i made an appointment like 10 days ago to have an interview this tuesday(a day right after MLK’s day)
however i got cold yesterday making me blow my nose every minute, and it does not seem to get any better. (actually gotten worse)

what should i do ?? (what a dumb question!!)
any advices will be helpful.

p.s : i just worry if i reschedule an interview, it might be seen as … not fully devoted/interested or whatever, you know.

if they can't understand that you're sick, you probably don't want to be going to that school anyways.

If you are still that sick today, you call the interviewer, explain the situation and then reschedule.

You do not go to the interview and let snot drip down your face. I kid you not. I am an alumni interviewer and had a student who did that. The student never used a tissue. It was totally disgusting. There are few things that one can do to totally wreck an interview. That is one. (If you don't have a tissue, but need one, ask the interviewer!)

I had bad allergies during my on campus Harvard interview 25+ years ago. I had the good sense to use a tissue. I got in. :)

If it was me, I would buy (with parental approvoal) an over the counter cold medication that stopped runny noses without affecting my thought process. As a former secondary school committee interviewer I agree with Northstarmom.

Call your interviewer. Explain that not only are you not at your best, your would not want to expose him/her to your illness. Ask to reschedule. If the interviewer is from out-of-town (e.g., from a college adcom), ask if you can schedule an interview by telephone. Anyplace that you want to be will appreciate your situation, appreciate your consideration and reschedule.
