So, I fell asleep during the SAT and got a 680 in the math section. I know that if I retake the test, it'll improve significantly. But I was going to apply to UChicago EA and Columbia ED.

I'm taking the MathII SATII next saturday (along with literature), and if practice tests are any indication, it'll be a 750+. Since that's not past the ED deadline, I can send it in. Will it compensate for the low SATI math, or should I just forget ED/EA and retake the SATI?

“should I just forget ED/EA and retake the SATI?”

No one should apply to any ED/ED program with anything less than their absolute best package. Since you likely will be able to improve greatly your SAT1 math, you should absolutely not apply EA/ED and apply via RD to both. Good luck

Even though the acceptance for ED often shoots up?

(hopefully) Last question: I can still get myself on the wait list for this Saturday’s SATI. If I can, should I take that instead of the subject tests and go for EA UChicago?

ED does have better rate for qualified applicants. You better check their ED rejection rate before applying if your scores and GPA are below average for admission.

Ah forget it I’m going to apply ED and EA. Thank you all for your help! Hopefully the MathII will make the difference, but I really love Columbia and UChicago. They’re my top choices far and away, and if I don’t get in I’ll have retaken the SATI by the time RD applications are due everywhere else.
