what to major in undergrad years?

which major is the best for premed?
i was thinking of biology, but is it good to take any life sciences?

The best major is whatever subject that you enjoy, combined with what you will get top grades in (which is usually the same as what you enjoy, but not always). It is a myth that majoring in biology or any of the life sciences will help you get into med-school. Non-life-science premeds get into med-school at as high of a rate as life-science premeds.

While I can't tell what the best majors are, I can probably tell what some of the worst are. Basically, they are any extremely difficult and time-consuming majors that are infamous for raining down bad grades upon its students. I.e. engineering, computer science, to some extent mathematics, physics, etc. Med-schools have proven time and time again that they don't really care that, say, the electrical engineering student has to work like a horse just to simply pass his classes, never mind about getting an 'A'. Med-schools say that they want hard-working students, but in reality, they don't really care about that. What they really care about is that you get top grades, and they don't really care how hard it is for you to get them, as long as you get them. For the purposes of med-school admissions, it's better to get an A in an easy class than a B in a difficult class.

thanks, any more takes on this?

I understand that medical schools don't prefer a, say, music major over a biology major, but wouldn't a biology major have a much easier time in medical school than a music major?

maybe. it all depends the music person may be very talented in science and music.
