I am meeting my interviewer at Starbucks on Sunday and I just realized I have no idea what to wear. Forecast says mostly sunny and high 65. I know this is not my most important concern, but I don't want it to be a distraction. This is my first interview, so I don't have any experience with this.

Are you a guy? Khakis and a polo shirt. Girl? Decent pair of pants or skirt and a nice top, minimize the amount of skin showing and tasteful makeup.

And if you are a girl- wear nice shoes but make sure they don’t have a peep toe/are closed.

Agree, for a guy, casual Khaki’s and a casual long sleeved botton down (blue oxford is common). No jacket. The polo shirt is often not a good idea bc it can come off as “elitist”. Better to not have any type of designer logo.

Girls: Skirt or nicer pants, flats, and nice top or sweater if weather appropriate. Going for kind of a J. Crew, Banana Republic look. Very little make up. No flip flops!

No piercings for guys, 1 set of small earrings for girls OK. Match the color of your belt and shoe leather (no brown w/ black). Nix the after shave or perfume.

You didn’t say what kind of college you are applying to. The suggestions here are good for most, but if you are interviewing for a small LAC, the interviewer might find those clothes a little dull; like you’re trying to erase your personality. Not that it really matters. It’s what you say that’s important. Dress like yourself.
